Or do you save him for Saturday? Mind you, Rittich has their number.

That was rock solid goaltending. I'd ride with Cam for another.

Great game by Talbot which is huge. He’ll get more starts and Rittich gets more rest which looks like
he needs. If we can have 2 goaltenders playing well that’ll be key in the 2nd half of the season. Just a great team win, everyone looked varying degrees
good, no one looked awful.

Talbot should play until he loses, let BSD catch his breath for the playoff run.

I think it's all about winning the next game in a tight division. Can't be looking ahead.

Hot take - Talbot will steal the starting goalie position by the end of this year.

Good job, Flames. Winning is fun! Now let's string a few more of these together and retake the division.

Nucks have 2 games in hand. But you're right, this division race is something else! 5 teams withing striking distance of 1st!

Ride the hot goalie, Talbot flat out won this one. Good to see Ward mix it up, Backlund is not a winger or an offensive threat, use him him where he excels as a defensive center. Lindholm and Tkachuk never disappoint.

I agree. But also we should be running them as a true tandem for the last half of this year in general, keep them both fresh and ready to go because both can win plenty of games when they're on.

Nah, don't sweat it. He'll be like a better Matt Stajan. An excellent checking centre who provides great on and off ice leadership. With how the game works the vets are usually slightly overpaid so fans trying to ice the most efficient salary cap roster possible are always trying to dump them. But in reality you need a few solid vets to lead the way for the younger guys. Every team has a few slightly overpaid vets for leadership. Backlund's got some hockey left in him, even if it isn't in the top 6. Depth at centre is key and its starting to look like we've got it for a while.
Just readjust your expectations for Backlund. He can be an elite checking 3rd line centre for years to come while providing leadership. That's valuable.

Funny to see the Flames win 2-1 in Chicago. Back when the Hawks were REALLY good, the goalie had to stand on his head in order for the Flames to escape with a 2-1 overtime win. In 2013 it was Reto Berra making 42 saves, and in 2014 it was Jonas Hiller making 49 saves.
Talbot played a great game and the Flames deserve credit for locking it down in the third.
Still undefeated this decade!!

Anyone else quickly changed channels when they said they were going to “analyze” the McDavid goal?

I felt bad for Jankowski. Almost killed the monkey. Crawford kept the Hawks in it

I agree that he's going to follow the role of Stajan but the Lucic contract means this team is going to have over 10 million tied into two bottom 6 forwards. It's not ideal at all.
