I am at work today. It is not quiet.
Hopefully a simple Game Day Thread will bring about a simple win.

Play hard. Hit. Shoot. Save. Score. Repeat.

Go Flames Go.

The streak continues NOW

The Canucks have become a surprise threat. With them and Arizona atop the Pacific and Nashville sinking, it's bizzaro world in the west this year.

I don't see AZ fading, but the Canucks will surely stumble at some point. Won't they?

Anyway, we need every point we can get.

They're the 2015 Flames, riding young talent performing better than what their rebuild predicted, zero expectations weighing the team down so they're just having fun. If they make the playoffs they're going to be a legitimate threat

Looking forward to going undefeated in this decade.

However, getting a win tonight would be good enough for now.

GFG!

The Flames need to get their patented massive second half win streak started. Seriously, this team needs to win.

Would love to see Gaudreau break out with a 3 point night. The rest of the offense seems to be rolling, and this is the missing piece. Gaudrea has turned things around with a couple of 2 point games in a row, but he needs to put his stamp on this.

Sounds like we could be seeing Crawford tonight?

Rittich and our PP finished strong last game, so looking forward to picking up where they left off. Tonight should be fun, as last game against Chicago was a pretty decent tilt for the most part.

It's amazing the Flames are even within striking distance, given how poorly some of our top guys --Gaudreau in particular -- have been shadows of their best selves. Gio, Backlund and Gaudreau finding their strides and would be huge in the second half for these guys. They've been AWOL all year.

Any sign of who's in net? Rittich was Jekkyl and Hyde last game, and Talbot's been pretty solid, so I wouldn't mind seeing Talbot. Rittich is now 2-1 against Chicago (beat the, twice last year) but his save% has been bad.

Talbot's record is exactly .500 against Chicago, but that's over two teams, including one that was no good.

It's going to be interesting.

When it comes to the teams Calgary is battling this is each club's strength of schedule (low hard / high easy)

Calgary 28th
Arizona 8th
Oilers 10th
Canucks 12th

Central teams that matter ...

Winnipeg 6th
Minnesota 13th

The only teams near Calgary are Avalanche, St. Louis and Dallas.

Might be a good thing. The past few years the Flames have played better for teams they have to "get up" for.

Good. I believe that good goal-tending begets good goal-tending.

When Talbot plays well, and the Flames win, it takes a lot of pressure away from Rittich. Likewise, it gives the Flames a chance to rest him. After all, Rittich is approaching uncharted territory.

I don't recall the 2015 Flames getting the goaltending that the 2019-20 Canucks are getting.

Markstrom has stolen the Canucks many games this year and is their clear MVP.

Flames stole points in 2015 with their ridiculous comebacks/last second goals.

My bad, I read that the wrong way. I'm a bit scared of the easier schedule.
