It looks like there are a lot of really high end draftable players in this tournament, I would not mind the Flames being in the lottery and re-charging for next year.

If this Flames core takes a step back like that, you're getting into Oilers territory.

I loved the GWG. I thought it was a great example of a guy who really wanted to score, scoring a huge goal.
That call on hayton, yikes, terrible. I feel that canada got a break on the puck hitting the camera and no call.
The reffing in international hockey is always interesting

No that would be finishing last in the league.

Thanks isn’t enough for this post. I am certain that more than a few people feel this way.

Add me to that list.
Has Calgary ever lost a game in which the reffing wasn’t at least partially responsible?
I’m not saying it’s not sometimes true, but I expect it averages out over time.

Weird story making the rounds on Twitter about how the Juniors Championship is being presented in Russia. From an apparently reputable source.

I knew a guy who worked with a Russian immigrant in the 90's. They were talking hockey one day in the lunch room when the Summit Series came up. Of course there was a huge dispute as the Russian dude had been told for 20 years that the Soviets had won the thing.
My buddy brought in a book he had borrowed from me that chronicled the whole thing. The Russian flipped through it and tossed it in the garbage can and stormed out calling it propaganda. LOL
As Boney M famously said..."Oh those Russians".

Someone ship them a ‘most goals’ banner to hang from the rafters. That should fix it.

Maybe the Oilers have one to lend them.

Awesome game. Congrats on a huge win. Was watching with my 4 years old daughter. Intended to get her interested in hockey, but she appeared to be more interested in Canada. So I was telling her about your country.
It is true, that 1972 series was presented as "win" in Russia and casual fans do believe that we won it. It is, however, utter nonsense to say that wjc 2020 is being presented as "win" as well. Malamud is a mad anti-russian guy, who is always spreading senseless lies. Russia is the country where you can see all NHL games for free and people have access to all the western media. It would be beyond stupid to say that we won the game.

Can't find anything that says Russians claim victory in this years WJC bc of more goals. What is said in the Twitter thread is that some less hockey interested Russians thought they had won the game bc a sports channel oddly decided to replay the 2011 final, parallell to this years final on another channel.

I don’t know where I read it but that was an argument they made way back.

“The total score of all eight matches is 32:31 in favour of the Soviet team,” the Pravda report read.
https://www.thestar.com/sports/2012/...it_series.html
This was all I could find on a quick search. I don ‘t think they really thought it - it was spin.
