I don’t think this rule applies, as the camera wasn’t above the ice surface.
There are other cameras mounted well within the stands. The rule wouldn’t apply to them either.
Which leaves 3 choices:
1. The refs screwed up.
2. There is a house rule that says that that camera is considered in play.
3. The refs were uncertain whether the camera was above the ice surface or not, as maybe it was closer than it appeared?
I have no problem with cameragate. It is what it is and a one in million lucky play. Hell, when the Canadian assistant coach jumped and grabbed the puck in the round Robin, they were fortunate as it would have been a penalty. Just be happy.
Congrats to TSN for the camera win LOL. If I was Russia I'd be pissed. Should have been a 6 on 3 scenario. Instead everything crumbles for them. Can always count on some last minute dramatics at the WJC.
Awesome game. Both sides played their hearts out!
Edit: Saw Girly's post. Suck it Russia~!

I dont think the reffing was bad. That game was wild, in 6th gear. They called what they saw.
You hit a stick out of someone's hands it's a penalty, 1st period or 3rd period.
Then they didn’t see a lot of holding the stick and pure holding by Russia. Once again, it’s not so much the calls. It’s the non-calls. Though the holding the stick call was egregious after all the non-calls for the same thing.
The whole ref talk is crap, every close game loss comes down to officiating on CP. The professionals on TSN spoke about it for 10 seconds and moved on to the actual play.

Lol, no. TSN talked about it for a couple minutes at the time, right in the post game, then again early in Sportscentre. Then again. It is a legitimate talking point, no matter how badly you want to pretend otherwise.

I don’t know if I’d call it crap but the ref complaining is getting a little much for me in the GTs. It had died down for a time but it seems to be growing in volume again. I just don’t see the upside to it. Venting Is fine but do the same posters need to beat that dead horse multiple times in each thread? We get it.

Plus, their preference is to avoid bad reffing talk at all costs. The fact they even mention it is therefore telling.
