Well Lafrenieres stick smacked the guy in the face, there was no question about that.
Im not sure they called it though as the one official never raised his hand to signal anything.

Good period. Canada can't get much offense rolling in 5v5. Nothing too dangerous.
Only weakish penalty called against Canada was the trip in the corner. I can't argue the rest. Especially when you watch the replays. Think the refs are calling it right. Canada's pretty undisciplined to start.
Hofer has been stellar. And the PK has done a fantastic job of limiting 2nd chances if Hofer hasnt swallowed up the puck.

no penalty looks to be added from the end of the period, hopefully canada can keep it 5v5 going forward. hard to win if on the PK for almost 7 straight minutes.

They may have been penalties but they sure were being sold hard. The refs might get tired of that. I’m not one who believes in game management, but I sure believe that refs get caught up in the game and call it accordingly.

diving/embellishment is also a penalty
so no the refs aren't calling the game properly
