I liked Frolik's time here, but great trade. Nogoodlers lose. Flames win. Good enough day that I can drink to celebrate instead of drowning sorrows.

It's not a werewolf thing though. It's a beer drinking, devil horn raising mullet and jean jacket 80s rocker thing. From a good old Calgary boy too. Terry's great. And a massive Flames fan.

Flames will wear the retro reds in seven of their remaining 19 home games and the retro whites in one of them

The Ducks will be wearing their orange jerseys in that one game

Love Fubar. This is how the world sees Alberta . After living there for 20 years can't say it is far off.

Have the Flames ever scored 5 on 3 shorthanded before tonight?

A googling vortex has come up empty, though most of those date back only 20 years.

Surprised a stat note about it hasn't come out yet.

I can't recall seeing one by the Flames.

Here's a compilation of some:

Mike Richards had 2, and Commodore with 1 amazingly.

Rick Nash scored one against us in 2009 too.

I know the Flames scored a goal when they were two men short in the 80s or early 90s. Maybe scored by Fleury?

Good call:

05:32 CGY Gary Suter Cross checking 2 min
05:57 CGY Jim Peplinski Hi-sticking 2 min
06:18 CGY SH Steve Bozek (16)

Also, look at those penalties to start the game!

If anyone reading this thread hasn’t seen Fubar before I highly recommend it. It will put the “woo” in to better context.

Got the goal wrong on your copy and paste. Looks like Bozek unassisted.
Peplinski from Carey Wilson was the other shorthanded goal that period.

108 PIM in the first 28 seconds.
252 for the game.
Played the night before in Calgary too.

The game made Sports Illustrated, with both coaches disgusted at the game.
Steve Smith had scored somewhat on his own net the night before as well, so this was a back to back game

A gem of an article, worth the read.

https://www.si.com/vault/1987/03/30/...rival-edmonton

And the Flames' 6-3 victory could assume its rightful place among the more repugnant contests in NHL history.

...
Sather seemed resigned as he sat on the Ping-Pong table in the Oilers' dressing room and digested Friday's defeat. "I might as well not have been there," he said. "I talked to them between periods, I talked to them on the bench. It didn't make any difference. The next group on the ice wasn't concerned about hockey. I'm more embarrassed by that game than any I've ever been involved in."

Johnson agreed. "An absolute nothing game," he said. "I didn't enjoy coaching it, I don't think they enjoyed playing in it. Absolute nothing."

.

Goal was at 6:18. The 12:43 one was another shorty but much later in the period. But also 6!!!! Game misconducts 28 seconds into the game. Nuts

Almost, but the time of the shorty was 6:18, unassisted. Then at 12:43, Peplinksi scored another shorty, assisted by Wilson.

I actually vaguely remember that game. I Believe Fuhr tried to shoot the puck past Bozek who chased a loose puck, he cut it off with his body against the boards and was able to go behind the net and do a wrap around before Fuhr could get back in the net. Unless I’m mistaken, which is possible since at first I thought it was Berezan who scored the goal.

And, in a circle of life moment, as I posted above in the 1987 game, saw Glen Sather there at the Dome tonight.

With the badass new white ones it's kind of a no brainer now to switch to those as the regular ones for home and road. That would put us right up there near CHI for nicest jerseys. However with this team that sounds way too good to be true.
