I honestly wonder at this point whether Jankowski has higher trade value than Bennett.
I wouldn't have thought so at the end of last season, but now i'm not so sure.
I wonder whether the perception of Jankowski is that of this being an extremely down year vs. a Bennett trend line.16 goals to 0 is a heck of a decline, whereas 12 goals to 9 might just be the way she goes.
Conceivably if you have Jankowski he's not looking for a raise at the end of the year, whereas with Bennett, if he doesn't rebound you're looking at a relatively expensive 4th line player for a year after this one.
Easier to move Jankowski because of cap combined with potential to re-sign him for cheap might be the deciding factor in their value.

I'm fine with moving either/both as long as the deals aren't just throwaways.
In a package for an upgrade or for a 2nd/3rd picks then fine. But if the offer for Bennett is a 5th he's more valuable in depth / bottom roster / playoff burst then a low round pick.
Same with Jankowski. He's a 6'5" center on an off year. I don't love the player and can't for the life of me understand why, with only one point, he doesn't play with more jam. But he has value to the team above what you can likely get on the market for him.

It's not only about this year, it's about their overall body of work. Yes, they've been good this year more than not no question about that, but I'm talking about their entire NHL careers. And they've been really bad more often than not in their overall NHL career.
Rieder is good for 20-30 points a year with exception of only 11 with the oilers. To put that in pespective Sam Bennet averages 25 points . Reider has 135 points and Bennet has 121.

I would trade Bennett for Hathaway straight up one of one. This team misses him something awful. Don’t think the Caps would do it though.

Ya no real reason washington would do that. Hathaway is half the price and at least just as effective. Maybe more because the coach can just slot him on L4 rather than worry about giving bennett chances with players he's not worthy of playing with.

Unfortunately I think the 25 games he played with Tkachuk last year priced him off the team, as that production mixed with his playoff production probably earned him a full million extra per year.
It's more valuable to have 2.25 million in cap space than it is to have Bennett because the flames already have Lucic.
I’m waiting for Friedman or someone like him to start throwing out something about Gaudreau. On pace for 60 points, and the trendline is heading down right now.
You know there is talk within the organization about what may be going wrong with him. For get about trade talk. Trade him or keep him, we need a lot more out do him than this.
It's not rocket science, Gaudreau is going through some sort of personal problem that he can't seem to shake, the flames organization know full well what's going on and are working hard to help him. only an idiot would trade him on the low.

I keep reading this stuff about Hathaway. Bennett sucks but what did Hathaway do in the playoffs when it mattered to warrant such high praise? Absolutely nothing.
Ryan was the 3rd line C in reality for alot of the season, regardless of the way it was listed on TV. Janko is terrible, sorry you like him bro

They were like a 3a/3b, but Jankowski played more ES minutes per game than Ryan did. The only thing that is terrible is your uneducated and poorly thought out opinion.
I'm fine with him getting pushed down, he hasn't been as good this season.
But man the hyperbole ... he's been on average an above average NHL forward for his career. Not a second line guy, though closer to that than the 4th line you're professing.
The numbers are the numbers.
And the results don't lie either. Bennett needs to score 4 goals and 13 assists in the next 13 games to equal the numbers of the biggest bust of this past decade. Advanced stats, like Sam Bennett, are complete garbage. Results are results and that's all that matters.

The NHL isn't quite the NBA, yet. You can't win with Lebron and a bunch of 5'4 powerplay specialists.

Right and his actual results in the last three seasons (more of a sample size) suggest he's a 3rd line guy, not a fourth line guy.
His advanced stats suggest there may be more and they're not garbage. How can you not want a guy to get more shots close to the net? Or more shots on rebounds or deflections?
You need to be less fearful of underlying numbers, they're not that scary.
