If recency matters, they are 2-4-1 in their last seven, so not sure how much longer you’ll be able to keep saying this.

Post game, with Rick and Cassie talking and showing his lowlights, they had the first goal and let it runs bunch of seconds after the puck went in he's got his head cocked in Brodie's direction the whole time.

Numerous times he's done this, this year.

There's a difference between playing good hockey and getting great results and playing poor hockey and still somehow getting great results.

If we just focus solely on the record, you lose sight of the big picture. It's like when average players put up amazing statistics one year but everyone knows it was a statistical anomaly and he falls back in line with what his metrics actually say his value is worth is the following season.

You don't put your complete faith in a coach who has his team playing legitimately poor hockey just because his record looks good. Otherwise, you make the mistake that a lot of fans made the year the Flames made the 2nd round under Hartley. The majority of the hockey community knew that was pure luck and expected a massive regression the following season because we way outperformed our metrics but some people thought just because we made the 2nd round that we were due for even a better result the following year.

You can even see it happening already... we started out with 7 straight wins under Ward despite poor play but are now 2-4-1 in our last 7 because our poor play continued and it's already catching up to us

You say the same ####ing thing every time the team loses...or gets scored on. We get it

Team lost this game largely because of the beer league goal tending, put that on the coach if you want

Team will be a bubble team this season unless Johnny can wake the hell up.

This was wrong. Just let Lindholm play on that line as the center. The Flames top line was very.... Ehhhhhhh

Why do you post here again?

I only ever see you posting on Canuck related stuff. Odd.

I have gotten the impression they like playing in front of the guy. Guess I will watch for this but is it also possible you’re reading too much into where he’s looking? He seems kind of happy go lucky.

Looks like whenever I put Monahan retro jersey we suck in the suckiest possible way. Coincidence? Sign from above?

The game was painful to watch. 4th line should be all fired; I don't even know why these three guys get dressed for the game; they might as well skate in their suits. And Backlund couldn't handle a single pass tonight, neither giving it nor receiving it...

Screw it. Single malt is the answer.

Embarrassed that Kipper had to watch that live tonight.
Flames need a top 6 forward, as BT has been looking at over the past 9 months to acquire. Otherwise you will have a top line and little else. Backlund has to get off the top line.

Importantly like GG's teams, they need the lead in games or they turn into pumpkins. Ward isnt able or willing to make adjustments, or get the extra gear out of players in the third. Peters could,Hartley, for all his faults, could.

Nah I'm factoring in Smith's goals as well as Elliot's. One of Smith's that was bad he was hurt on. All of the other bad ones had an element of surprise to them, shooting from an odd angle, a flyby or something. This one was a shot from 40 feet, no screen, not a hard shot, a shot meant to get a faceoff and a change.

I mean, yeah. Is there a single bigger difference between last year and this?

Yeesh, this board is so bipolar sometimes. They laid an egg, which, if you're going to play a bad game (and you are every once in a while), you might as well do it on the night where the goalie forgets how to stop a puck rather than waste an effort. Pretty tough to come back from those two early ones.

Everyone go watch the highlights of the Oilers game again and go to sleep.

Yup, Flames go as Johnny goes, sadly.

The Oilers aren't a measuring stick for success.

For the most part this season the Flames have had average to good goaltending, Maybe its just an average team with average coaching and average goaltending.

We're 2-4-1 the last 7 games with the same crappy 5v5 play we had during our 7 game win streak.

Our poor play is catching up to us but if you want to ignore all the signs, that's up to you.

45 second mark or so it starts, to prevent one having to watch more highlights than you really want of tonight's game.

Hey, if you want to be blinded by the record and tricked into thinking we're playing good hockey, you do you.

But unfortunately all the evidence points to the contrary and is proving to be the case
