Mark Spector

"A joke no more, the Edmonton Oilers begin to expect Stanley Cups"

"We can officially file the Decade of Darkness into the history books — its chapter entitled: “The Old Boys Club — A Cautionary Tale” — and we’ll open a new book in Edmonton, one where simply having a good November is no longer the barometer"

“We’re not expecting to sneak into the playoffs — we’re going after Division titles. The Stanley Cup, it’s no longer the hope here. It’s the goal.”

"The good news? Edmonton will answer similar roster questions this summer facing the 29 other NHL clubs, but the two people finding the answers — McLellan and GM Peter Chiarelli — are two of the best in the business."

Someone needs to compile the ThisIsAnOutrage post game summaries. Those were classic.

I didn’t see them mentioned in here yet (apologies if they have and I missed them) but four things come to mind:

1. The banner for winning an internet poll

2. The Last Supper painting

3. The McDavid looking buff standing on a pile of corpses in Flames jerseys painting

4. The Garth Brooks banner

While more a legitimate barometer of the fanbase up there, the fact that he agreed to sign it is also no good.

Instead Scrivens pulled the Kramer: "You want this? I don't want it. I stink!"

If anyone’s interested in extending the fun, the NHL has asked for your favourite GIFs of the decade:

https://twitter.com/nhl/status/1211339862831484929?s=21

I’ve replied and am starting a bit of a chain, inspired by this thread. To wit:
