Rian had Kennedy’s full backing on TLJ because she particularly enjoyed his character treatments. That is also why Kennedy is president only in name at this point.
Also why they are involving feige going forward, as hes shown building a continuity over what like movies? Whereas KK and JJ struggled with 3

From what I understand, Feige's involvement with Star Wars (if it happens) will not be anywhere close to the level of involvement he has with the MCU. Right now, he's developing one film.
It's unlikely he'd be able to handle running both Marvel and the Star Wars films, so if he did want to take control of Star Wars, he'd probably need to leave Marvel. I don't know if he'd want to do that.
I could see Disney deciding to bring in someone to act as a creative overseer for the SW Universe, much like Feige's role with Marvel, while Kennedy looks after the business side of Lucasfilm and the non-SW Lucas properties (like Indy). If they do end up doing that, my money would be on either Dave Filoni or Jon Favreau (or both) taking the reins.

Hollywood's reigning prince of blockbuster mediocrity, J.J. Abrams.
Quote:
Abrams has brought the trilogy back to his original idea: What people love about Star Wars is being reminded that they love Star Wars. So Skywalker is structured as a series of callbacks, a slideshow of favorite moments and characters, no matter whether they (or the actors who play them) are dead, and no matter whether they belong in this particular story, whatever it is. Skywalker is not so much a movie as a $200 million fan-made YouTube highlight reel.

At this point, I think that there is serious movie fatique in the Star Wars Universe, it doesn't help that the latest and last trilogy fell flat with most of the engaged fanbase.
I would think that Disney is having a lot of hard discussions around the temptation of block busters vs letting a tired franchise rest for a decade.
When the OT Trilogy ended, there was nowhere near the toy line/comic/cartoon/eu novel run that we see today. Star Wars pretty much vanished as a visible franchise. By the time the PT came out there was massive hunger for Star Wars, and massive anticipation. And even though trilogy wise the PT wasn't well received it was still a massive money maker and lead to a massive explosion of cartoons and EU novels and cartoons and even toy lines like Lego etc.
I think that there is a lot of disappointment in the current Disney Star Wars, I think they made a massive blunder in terms of making the Legends EU non canon and killing those story lines in exchange for a new EU that's in a word not as good. What's left of the most value right now are TV series that can populate the Disney channel. They don't need to make new movies unless they're straight to channel offerings.
But I don't think they need to rush to start up any new linked trilogy, and they should resist that temptation for a good long time.

I agree that there probably is, but I think you have to ask WHY is there fatigue?
Because I would say there's very little fatigue in Marvel. There's maybe a bit who are just done with superhero movies in general, but otherwise they were able to do WAY more Marvel movies and they were successful with almost all of them.
My theory is the writing.
Star Wars fans are tired of being milked for their loyalty and being rewarded with thrown together stuff that's really well produced but is poorly written.
Marvel movies are much better from a writing point of view.. it seems they do a bunch of stuff, go fetch this, go stop this, but the characters are the core and everything always comes back to the characters (or when they don't it stands out). So people keep coming back.
That Half in the Bag review I think says it well.. so much wasted potential with Episode 7-9.. great actors, great characters, great chemistry, and most of it is wasted.
And I guess people are done with that.

I don't disagree, and I have to say that Daisy Ridley is going to have a really good career now that her Star Wars days are over, she did a solid job as an unknown.
But there is fatigue. I'm going to see the movie this weekend. But part of me after watching the first two movies was to wish that they hadn't bothered with this trilogy. I was fine with a chunk of the PT, because I liked the underlying story of it and how it worked through the whole trilogy. I didn't feel an underlying coherent story in the first two movies so I'm hoping that the last movie brings it together and gives it the ending suitable to the 9 story arc.

Just got back from watching RoS, and while it's better than TLJ it just felt like mostly forced fan service. This whole trilogy seems absolutely pointless, in TFA they basically throw out the original trilogy, nothing that they did mattered and they're back to being a ragtag resistance against an all powerful empire. And Rise of Skywalker just recreates Return of the Jedi and now we're back where the OT ended. What was the point? (besides easy money for Disney)

Of course, fans immediately jumped to the conclusion that for Rey to hear Ahsoka's voice, she must have died in the years between the Battle of Endor (4 ABY) and The Rise of Skywalker (approximately in 35 ABY). However, Filoni posted an illustration of Ahsoka and Gandalf the Grey on Twitter, with Gandalf saying, "People thought I was dead, too. Look how that turned out..." This is a reference to Gandalf's duel with Balrog in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring when he fell into the abyss to defend the Fellowship, who believed him to be dead until he returned as Gandalf the White. Similarly, Ahsoka took on a white hooded robe and wielded dual white lightsabers in Rebels.

Mandalorian is the biggest show in the world. I don't think its a problem of Star Wars. It's a problem with what they are doing in the Star Wars setting.
They need to make new and fresh stories in the Star Wars setting in order to succeed. You can't just keep remaking the same trilogy. What they did in the new trilogy was just lazy and boring.

I'm pretty sure Disney kidnapped JJ Abrams dog and threatened to cut off a dog part every time he introduced something new.
This last 'movie' was a tribute music video for episodes 4 to 6 set to no music.

There were a lot of groaners in this movie. For example, when they rode the space horses onto the deck of the star destroyer and then shortly after what's her name used a bow and arrow to take down a tie fighter. I wanted to stick a lightsaber in my mouth and activate it.

How about when Rey can stop a space ship with her thoughts and prayers?? What the flying eff?

Went to see it again on Xmas day and I liked it even more the 2nd time, as I noticed a few bits that I didn't catch on first viewing. My family members all really enjoyed it as well. Once again, my only real gripe is the breakneck pace. I would have preferred an extended running time just to allow the story to slow down a bit and let the audience catch their breath. But overall it's an entertaining Star Wars flick and a satisfying wrap up to the saga IMO.

I still love this movie. I don't care how negative you people want to get. It was a good Star Wars movie.
I have realized what has been turning me off of the Star Wars universe. All the negative people who dump on it because it's the cool thing to do.
I agree with Buff. I just go to these movies excited that there's more Star Wars. Ya they aren't perfect, Oscar worthy movies, but they just make me happy, and there's a real lack of that in the world these days. Being able to feel like a kid again is great, and I feel bad for those of you that can't just shut your brain off and enjoy it instead of over analyzing every tiny little detail of a fictional movie.

Well put. I've avoided this thread mainly for the negativity, good to see some positive posts in here.
I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best movie ever, but it was a satisfying conclusion to this arc as well as a great epilogue for the original trilogy characters.
I'm looking forward to whatever comes next.

Ah yes, the old "shut your brain off and enjoy the mindless spectacle" routine.
Might I recommend Michael Bay's "Transformers" movie series for you guys too? Lots of explosions and yelling and useless dialogue and characters you don't need to pay attention to, you'll love it.
