Well they've gone with Mikel Arteta to right the ship. I think that's basically insane as the guy hasn't actually managed anywhere, but I guess they signed him for 3 1/2 years.

Man United v Man City
Leicester v Aston Villa

in the Caribou Cup semifinals. How is that #### still played over two legs? Mind-boggling.

Agreed, it should be 4 legs, an initial home and home then migrated to Qatar and then the final leg played on a decommissioned aircraft carrier in the Pacific Ocean.

Dont even get me started on the Finals! Maybe they should be played on the Moon...

Minamino is a good start, being linked with Werner is also interesting.

Huh....if we keep this up we might have to take Red Bull on as an Official Sponsor.

Oh and some other dude in London inexplicably signed a new contract. Probably because it hurts that literally nobody else wanted him.

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld has signed a new contract at the club until 2023.

Spurs triggered a 12-month extension on his contract last December to keep Alderweireld at the club until June 2020, and a clause was inserted to enable buying clubs to sign the player for just £25 million last summer.

No club paid the clause, though.

It is strange how his opinion of the club seemed to change after his release clause for 25m went unused and no one showed any interest.

It's a good day though. Apparently both Lacazette and Aubamayeng want out, and they signed Arteta to be their manager. They went from chasing Ancelotti and Poch to ending up with a guy who's managed as many games as I have (if we're not counting Football Manager that is!)

pretty funny to see Ferguson v Ljungberg today before Ancelotti and Arteta take over tomorrow.

Arteta is such an interesting appointment. Could be genius, could end in tears. Mourinhos "zero defeat" was funny too. Took a while, but now that the man is wearing different colors I can finally chuckle again when I read/see his BS comments.

Sounds like Vertonghen is close to re-signing too

There isn't much funnier than Lingard on £100,000+ a week. Good for him I guess.

I mean its pretty obvious what the difference is between the top six and the crap teams, the question is what the hell is Ole training them on during the weeks leading up to crap teams? They don't just drop points in these games, they look like relegation fodder, can barely string three passes together and have no ideas on how to break down.

Strange play. Why didn't Gazzaniga use his hands?

That was amazing from De Gea. Channelling his inner Karius.

I assumed he was going to catch it and didn't even know what happened. Just a ridiculous half. Thankfully Dier is coming off.

That was a clear red. The issue is I think Rudiger should get a yellow there for embellishment. The problem with that kind of thing is that it works.

And VAR sucks. I have no idea how Spurs didn't get at least a penalty if not two in that second half. By no means did we deserve a draw or win, but what's the point of VAR if you can still tackle players in the box and get away with it?
