Yet again our divisional rivals around us improve and we sit back and do nothing.

I hope not. Whatever team gives him a 5+ year contract for the money he wants is going to completely regret it in year 2 or 3. Power forward with an extensive injury history and completely unreliable in his own zone, he's on track to be a far more expensive Neal. If Treliving has any capability of learning from his mistakes he'll stay far away

Thats fine. Hall will be a flame in 6 months and we'll give up no assets.

So I guess now that this is off the table are the Flames back to scouting who ever it was in Buffalo. Flames need something. They cant just sit there and watch everyone else get better. When do they actually take a chance at contending in this window?

Hall is nothing like Neal. It’s crazy how underrated he has become on here. I really hope Treliving can sign him

2 weeks ago this forum was ready to trade everybody and tank for the 1st pick. I think we need a little patience.

Taylor Hall is elite, not a power forward, and plays a full 200 foot game at a high level.

He is almost exactly what James Neal is not.

They've looked really ####ing good the past three weeks and beat teams that were red hot with supposedly "better" top end talent so I don't think there is any need for panic 2 months ahead of the deadline... Hall doesn't make the coyotes a contender either.

Neal was nothing like Neal until he signed with Calgary. How many power forwards with over 100 games lost to injury before they hit thirty are still effective in their thirties? Time is going to catch up to Hall very quickly and it's going to hit hard, his contract will be an anchor for whoever pays him come 2023 forward

Hall isn’t even a power forward?

Neal has always been the same player. His entire career he’s been a sniper that can’t produce offense on his own, but can when paired with a strong center or on the powerplay.

It amazes me how many people are against improving the team while we actually have a chance to contend.

OK, but since 2016, Taylor Hall's high-danger Corsi% of 57.84% ranks 11th in the entire NHL, ahead of all of the following players:

- Connor McDavid
- Nathan MacKinnon
- Sidney Crosby
- Alexander Ovechkin
- Mark Stone
- Johnny Gaudreau
- Leon Draisaitl
- Tyler Seguin
- Evgeni Malkin
- Patrick Kane
- Nikita Kucherov
- Steven Stamkos
- Evgeny Kuznetsov
- Ryan O'Reilly
- Sebastian Aho
- Matthew Tkachuk
- Artemi Panarin
- Mathew Barzal
- Mark Giordano
- Patrice Bergeron
- David Pastrnak
- Jack Eichel
- Elias Pettersson
- Mark Scheifele
- Auston Matthews
- Mitch Marner
- John Tavares

And basically everybody else worth mentioning in hockey.

Who's the 10 that are ahead of him?

Mikko Koivu
Jared Spurgeon
Mikael Granlund
Dominik Simon
Jason Zucker
Patric Hornqvist
Ryan Suter
Lucas Wallmark
Alexander Radulov
William Carrier

Given that a lot of these are Minnesota Wild players I'd chalk that up to weird counting at the Xcel Energy Center, which IIRC has had some inflated home shot counts over the years.

I lump Hall in as a power forward because of his reckless playing style, he has the spatial awareness of a pylon. He can shrug off the injuries now, but his window as a top line player is going to close very quickly. Do you want to give him a 7 year contract worth 10+ million per year in the hope that he can get you a cup within the first 2? That's a big gamble to take, and so far every big bet that Treliving has taken has backfired in his face spectacularly

That list almost makes me question whether that’s even a useful stat at all. Half Minnesota Wild players?

Are you sure you aren't letting some previously established anti-Oilers opinion colour your opinion? Or are you perhaps thinking that Hall has been on bad teams, so he must be bad?

There's a pretty overwhelming amount of data out there showing just how elite Hall is. This isn't a Phil Kessel, one-dimensional style of player.
