Just because the puck gets a little ahead of you for a half second and you recover it before anyone else can, it doesn’t mean you lost possession. Players push the puck ahead and catch up all the time. That to me is possession. The puck was never more than a couple feet offf his stick.
Yeah and some people doubt the earth is round. A lack of agreement does not equate to actual doubt in the facts.

Afternoon games suck because the frog is nocturnal. I don't want to wake him up though.

There's a brutal Backlund decision which turned into a 3 on 1.

It also went off the boards. It's not as obvious as some are saying but the review has to be conclusive so I think it's right to say the play on the ice stands.

I blame Cassie for the monotonic type play this afternoon.

My first choice was holocaust deniers but I thought that might be going a little far.

Anyways it’s done. Can’t change it now. Back to the game.

I was yelling at the TV that it was offside.

When Brian Burke said "I thought it was offside, but hearing the explanation I agree it was onside" I thought "Ok Burkie, wow me".

It was onside. I wasn't thinking about tag-up and possession.

It was on-side.

Time to have a strong 3rd.

He clearly knocks it in. Not carries it in.

That was 100% a goal. No doubt about it. At all.

I would counter that it was a pass up the boards that was initiated before the player on the other side tagged up. It was not a dump in. This call could potentially change how the game is played, as you could make a breakaway pass while a teammate was offside, as long as they waited for the tag up to actually touch it.

Gauthier didn't clear the zone. Both skates have to come outside to tag up. His left skate never left the zone. It was offside.

I noticed that now. It does look like Gauthier is straddling the line at the same time. I wondered if he had lifted his skate. Good call.

Read the rule book and check yo glasses people.

Cassie was right.

All attacking players need to clear the zone before the offside is off.

One guy can't go back (McGinn) and tag up while the other stays in the zone (Gauthier).

If it's a good goal, fine.

The problem is a lack of consistency. We have all seen that exact play called off-side a thousand times. There is a good chance that it happens later this game, and is blown down.

The only reason that it wasn't blown down by the linesman on the ice, was that his view from the far side was blocked and he couldn't see it. Otherwise, he would have blown it down.

It's a magic goal, if only because it doesn't happen in the real world, only if an argument can be made that the Carolina player lost possession. He batted it in, and was the first to touch it on the other side of the line. When you slow it down to a crawl, a two foot tap in looks like a massive dump in. It takes forever for him to get to the puck (at 1/100 speed)!

Anyway, it's a goal. Refs do get an assist on this one though.

Cripes Backlund, just shoot it. You're down by two, don't get fancy.
