Relevant or not, the problem with bringing up Trudeau in this thread is now this thread is more about Trudeau, than Aliu and racism/conduct in hockey. All the JT talk really needs to be parked.
Even after reading the story that photo is stunning. It’s amazing how civil Aliu has been in his recounting.

What does bringing up Trudeau even have to do with racism in Hockey? If anything it proves that people (Trudeau) can grow from it and if you can't demonstrate this growth then well you are kinda of #### out of luck.

And none of this is from his own family, IT IS OUR MONEY, so please don't act like it is some holier than thou thing from Trudeau.

But does anyone know why he didn’t stick around?
It says he scored 2 goals and had an assist in his first 2 nhl games

Here here,
Don’t have to be on any side of the political sphere to know how gross that picture is. 2001 isn’t 1941.
Also, this story makes me shutter. If you ever think racism isn’t a problem in North America you just haven’t met someone that has experienced it. I used to be on the fence if racism was a serious issue in Canadian society, then I met my now long term gf.
It’s an easy answer. It is.

I think the issue is the people that walk around smelling their own farts about how PC they are seemingly give JT a pass while thinking hockey coaches, broadcasters, trainers, ect. should have their careers ended with no chance of redemption.
JT should have stepped down or been forced to step down, if there was enough public backlash he would have. Even Trump couldn't get away with blackface (insert orange face joke)
"can't fire a PM" is such a cop out...yes we can

It was the end of the season and meaningless games...basically AHL rosters
one goal went off his ass. Team rewarded him with a couple games but he wasn't quite good enough

Why do you want to shut down certain comments? The blackface photo with Aliu's former equipment manager are disgusting.
I don't understand the reasoning behind attacking me personally. Doesn't make any progress or get the discussion moving forward.

If you're curious on my feelings about Trudeau, you can find my comments in the Federal thread the day the story broke. Too lazy, he's a giant piece of #### and I didn't vote him.

Sure, but there are many threads already cycling through this. Why can’t this one stay on topic: Aliu and hockey’s reckoning? Sadly, there is plenty to talk about that is directly linked.

Fair enough...if hockey is leading the way so be it
because the leaders of both Canada and the US leave a lot to be desired

Does it matter? Does your boss at work pay you out of his own pocket? No, but he does have a major impact on whether or not you find your work or company enjoyable. As long as people in charge are doing things that make the current environment better and not worst you are more likely to stay in your job it doesn't matter who pays you.
Holier than though? I really don't give a #### about what people really think inside as long as what they are doing is making a difference and not negatively impacting others. Abe Lincoln freed slaves as a republican and did it only because it was in favour of his party politics not because he was so fond about equality but ask any decedents of slavery if they care? As for my taxes, I'd rather a majority of that money be invested in Canadian pipelines but that's another story and this is about racism in hockey.
My point was talking about Trudeau takes away from the conversation when people bring him up because it doesn't really apply to the story at all. So if everyone agrees with you that Trudeau is a racist and should be removed as the PM... What now? What does it have to do with Coaches and teams endorsing, looking the other way, or even promoting racism? Hockey is not only racially but economically out of reach for many and stuff like this hurts the growth of the game. This is why private leagues are sensitive to it and act accordingly.

It’s pretty tired how everything has to tie back to Trudeau.
Don Cherry, Trudeau.
Bill Peters, Trudeau.
Akim Aliu, Trudeau.
We get it. Trudeau sucks.
But we have to be able to talk about other things on their own, don’t we?

I wish all those obsessed with Trudeau would go find some other threads to ruin on some other board. Your act has worn thin quickly.
