Whatever happened to...
Thought of a thread idea for players we've forgotten about and for the experts to let us know what they are doing lately..
Whatever happened to Baerstchi? I remember he was like a surprise healthy scratch and then sent to the minors or something? How is he playing there?
6'7 Breen? I remember being a little worried he might amount to something but that obviously hasn't been the case.
Kanzig? Shinkaruk? Poirier? Rychel?
That defenseman of ours that scored a ton of goals but we let him walk for nothing?
Mason Macdonald?
Anybody else that you are curious about?

Phaneuf had his contract bought out this summer and didn't get an NHL offer.

Not listed, but Greg Nemisz has been an assistant coach for the Oshawa Generals for the last 5 seasons.

I wonder where Rafa Diaz is these days. Always liked him.

I know Ryan Howse retired, but I still wonder what he's up to.
It's odd how he hung up the skates at the age of 21 after scoring over nearly 100 goals in his last 2 years of junior.

Baertschi is over a point per game in the AHL this season. He did get a brief recall to the Canucks when Ferland (I believe) got hurt, but he's back in Utica.
Chris Breen is in his 6th year with the Providence Bruins and 5th as an Alternate captain.
Mason McDonald is with Utah in the ECHL. Rychel and Shinkaruk are both playing in the AHL with Charlotte. Poirier is in the AHL with Manitoba. Kanzig is in the ECHL with Idaho.
I don't know which goal-scoring d-man you're referring to.
Other than Baertschi, I don't think any of them are signed to NHL contracts.

Anton Stralman as in the D we let walk for nothing? If so he's had a great career and is with the Panthers right now.
Hope you don't mean Ian White *shudders*

For some reason my head went to Daniel Ryder. So I googled him to try and see if the kid had gotten his life sorted out.
This was the most recent article. Depressing read.

He subbed 2-3 times for a team I played for in ASHL maybe 3-4 years ago. Can't remember if he mentioned what he was up to these days.
Still incredibly skilled, but I suspect he may have had a similar problem to Rasmus Andersson, but wasn't able to figure it out like Andersson has.

Which was what? I seem to remember Andersson having an issue with weight/fitness

exactly. RH has admitted publicly that his commitment to fitness/nutrition etc when he made the transition to pro isn't where it needed to be
