Flames prospects at the 2020 WJC

Camp rosters are being released with Canada's to be released at 11AM MT.
Here is what I am expecting:

LW Jakob Pelletier - Canada - eligible for 2021 WJC
will get a camp invite and good chance he will make the team
he is currently 3rd in QMJHL scoring and he can play up and down the line up making him a versatile option for Canada

G Dustin Wolf - USA - eligible for 2021 WJC
will get a camp invite and will make the team
expecting Wolf to be at least the backup goal tender, the only question is if he can steal the starter job from Spencer Knight

RW Zavgorodniy - Russia - last year of eligibility for WJC
was expecting him to be a lock for the team but with a broken collarbone suffered in late November and a 8 - 12 week projected timeline, looks like his last chance at the WJC won't happen

 C Nikolaev - Russia - eligible for 2021 WJC
small chance of getting a camp invite
Russia suffered quite a few injuries to players projected to make their camp so perhaps Nikolaev could get an invite
I do think his chances are better next year though and he has represented Russia internationally many times so I think he is being groomed for a spot eventually

LW Feuk - Sweden - eligible for 2021 WJC
don't think he gets an invite
I think Sweden has better options at wing than Feuk is showing this season
Also didn't participated in the summer camp or tournaments that would indicate he was in consideration for this year's team

LW Koumontzis - USA - last year of eligibility for WJC
doubtful he is getting a camp invite
we know he is on the radar after getting an invite to USA's summer camp after some injuries opened up a couple of spots but he was also among the first cuts at that camp

 C Nodler - USA - eligible for 2021 WJC
don't think he gets an invite
 wasn't at the summer camp
Also think USA Hockey thinks they have better options than Nodler at this time

C/W Emilio Pettersen - Norway - last year of eligibility for the WJC
 zero chance
Norway is still in Division I Group A trying to get to the main tournament
already been reported that Emilio Pettersen will not play in the Division Group A tournament this year

Everyone else the Flames have NHL rights to are too old for the WJC

Thanks Sureloss! Hopefully Pelletier makes the team and makes some noise. This tournament is always more exciting when the Flames have some prospects involved.

I am still so bummed about Zavgorodniy. I was probably most excited about watching him in this year's tournament.

I'm most interested in the development of unsigned centres Ilya Nikolayev and Mathias Emilio Pettersen, both could be potential top 9 forwards down the line.

As expected Pelletier named to Canada's selection camp:https://hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/team-c...ers?teamid=128
17f 10d 4g invited to the camp and 23 players will be going

of note Veleno not listed but McKenzie believes that Det will release him for the tournament, so functionally there are 18 forwards

same might happen with the NYI and Dobson, so functionally 11 defence

As expected Dustin Wolf was named to USA's preliminary roster. At this point the only Flames prospect projected to be at the tournament.https://teamusa.usahockey.com/2020wjcroster |

Feel bad for Pelletier. I know a lot of fans around here were rooting for him to have a good camp and make the team. There's always next year for him I guess.

I am most upset for Zavgorodniy since this is his last year of eligibility.

This means Wolf will be on the final WJC roster (barring injury).
 Mike Morreale @mikemorrealeNHL
USA GM John Vanbiesbrouck said he doesn’t expect any cuts to be made during select camp in Michigan. All 28 players will accompany team to training camp in CZE, Dec 20-23. Vanbiesbrouck also told me they will maintain 3 goalies for the WJC
