I used to be annoyed by my brother and cousins talking it up all the time. But they were correct.

Been here a month so far. It feels like you are in a small town with everything you could ever need within a 10 minute drive. 5 Minutes to work, 3 or 7 minutes to the Arena my kids play at most of the time. Hundreds of great restaurants close. Avenida Food Hall/Market is great. Italian Market is close by.

Sliver was correct all these years.

The real war was always North vs. South. Other than an airport and a University there is nothing in the North. It's a barren wasteland. We have the Downtown, the Dome, Stampede, COP ect.

He's probably trying to get you to move there. Once you're in, it's tough not to become evangelical about it. You actually feel sorry for all the people that don't have a lake, or a food hall, or a cheap theater, or an auto mall, or hockey rinks, or and LRT station, or Fish Creek, or immediate access onto MacLeod, Anderson, Deerfoot, etc.

Then this weird thing happens where if they defend their dumpy little corner of the NW because they can walk along a crappy sidewalk inhaling exhaust and stepping over needles to end up at The Roasterie or some other crappy place in Kensington you just want to punch them in the head for not seeing that Lake Bonavista is objectively way better and they should move there to improve their quality of life and they'll get a better house for less money. Since you can't do that, you just have to keep beating them over the head with your messaging.

Oh yea it’s very likely it was another CPer. I rarely visit the off topic forum so I had no idea this thread existed but the CP colour scheme was immediately recognizable. Weird moment to see it out of context on reddit so I came here to share...

Except even the furthest NW communities are way, way closer to all of those things and have better access than the furthest south communities. You think Summerset in the SW is closer to COP than Tuscany in the NW?

I know the city splits the quadrants in weird ways but it doesn’t somehow move new Brighton 30kms north.

And the hilarious part about the airport is you actually wouldn't want it in your quadrant. Listening to planes all day would just remind me of the bad decisions I had made to end up in the north. Then some tumbleweed would blow off Nose Hill, smack me in the face and make me want to jump off the blue ring.
