Icon44 Devils fire head coach John Hynes

Article says that Hynes is expected to coach tonight, but with this story out there already, will see if the Devils pull the plug earlier.

https://www.nj.com/devils/2019/12/nh...-it-means.html

Quote:
The John Hynes era appears to be nearing its end.

The Devils are expected to fire their head coach within the next 48 hours, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The team is expected to name assistant coach Alain Nasreddine as interim head coach when the move is made.

The news was first reported on NJ.com’s texting subscription service, Devils Insider.

Took long enough.

He's been pretty terrible since the start, with one small blip in their performance, mostly predicated on an MVP season from Hall.

The big thing is the lack of progress from their top picks.

Well, you learn something new everyday.

James Lassiter is a Limited Partner with the New Jersey Devils. James Lassiter was often spoken about in songs by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. He would later go on to produce many films.

Oh, yeah, some guy named Will Smith is also a Limited Partner, along with his wife Jada. They both look like people who could have been in movies or TV.

Nice to see a coach fired for good old fashioned poor performance.

By many accounts yes. Sure hasn't stop them from being a joke on the ice and the 2nd worst team in the NHL to this point.

Yeah, kind of what I was driving towards. As fun as it is as a fan for tons of roster moves, it rarely pays off. Fans need to setup cell phone jammers and cut the phones lines on that day.

We'll have to download his browsing history and check! I hope he wasn't using incognito mode.

Oh, I think Sureloss changed the link. The original story said that they were expected to announce it in the next 48 hours but word got out and had become public knowledge, so they upped the timeline and made it official.

The timing makes sense. Bill Peters, who led the Flames to their best regular season last year since their championship season in 1988-89, recently became available. I expect the Devils to contact him immediately. This is a classic reactionary move by New Jersey that makes a lot of sense.

Makes sense. In those incident threads tons of people were calling him a Devil.
