Frolik seems like the obvious answer.

Hopefully Johnny. I don't think the Flames can make the playoffs unless he raises his game significantly from here on in. If he starts rolling then Monahan will follow.

As others have said Jankowski can't possibly get worse, but I think the top line will improve greatly

Any player in Peter's doghouse will thrive I'd say.
I'm sure theres a reason why our leaders werent playing to 100% ....who does when the boss is relaying a message that just isn't translatable.
Somehow something never seemed right with Peter's.....like Ryan at first.
I think allot of people's perception of Ryan being Peter's fsve have been changed as Ryan has turned into a.pleasant surprise.....regardless of previous perceptions.
I wanna see Czarnik return and thrive. Maybe Even Bennett??? Its a fresh start to reset.
I hope the boys seize it.....54 games remain. Stick together play hard and show us how good we know you are.
I beleive!!!

Sam Bennett of course. Sam Bennett is always being held back by everything but Sam Bennett.
Unless the dump and chase disappears, no one is going to see any improvement. This is a puck possession team, and giving the puck away on the dump in works against the skill and style the majority of the players execute.

I have no idea we're going to find out. I'd say if this group doesn't respond to a new coach then the core is done and will be dealt with over the summer.

Everyone and their dog wants to see new lines. I understand keeping the same lines for the first game or two, not to throw too much chaos in there. If a coach wanted to set a new tone, you could always make one or two radical changes and see if you get improvement from unexpected sources.
How about this, when healthy... Moving Backlund and Jankowski to the wing.
Tkachuk-Monahan-Mangiapane
Gaudreau-Lindholm-Backlund
Lucic-Ryan-Dube
Jankowski/Frolik-Bennett-Czarnik
I reeeeeeeally want a shakeup of the lines, and I understand this is extreme. You do that, and my selection for a bounceback is Gaudreau, Backlund and Bennett. Roll four lines.

If Matt, Sean and Andrew can hang defensively, that's a pretty good line.

It also shelters Johnny with two Selke level players with offensive chops. I've thought that he should get the Tarasenko treatment for a while, and with this team that would be the line.
Also, every other game Backlund breezes by the defenders and sweeps in from the wing for a shot. Why not make that his job for a while?

I would be surprised if there's an immediate change in atmosphere, because as people mentioned, it's not like Ward is new in the room.
I would also assume Ward mostly stays the course until he knows whether or not he's just keeping the seat warm for the next guy. If I understood correctly Treliving/Flames haven't decided on that yet. No point in making major shakeups if someone else is just going to do that again in a week.

One would have to hope Gaudreau and Monahan turn things around, because the team is going to miss for sure unless they do.
Beyond that the team’s struggles seem to be a result of older players having their age catch up to them (Gio, Backlund, Frolik), or players who are just not as good as they were once projected (Bennett, Janko).
My prediction is the coaching change improves the culture and players stop looking bored and miserable all the time, but it doesn’t impact the results significantly as this is still a deeply flawed roster. Flames finish just outside the playoff bubble and CP factions debate over the summer if shakeups are really necessary because of a fruitless late season surge.

I would really want to see this line for more than a few shifts, let them play for a game or 2 or 3.

I think I'd like to see a new boss come in, hopefully just to mix the culture and vibe up a bit.

I disagree. You can see there is a different vibe and a different culture surrounding the team already, judging by the few clips of music played at practice.
Just because Ward was an assistant coach under Peters, it does not automatically make him similar or the same type of coach as Peters.

I got to say I now agree with you after just watching the video from practice. Kylington(?) skating by the camera singing Tiny Dancer was just awesome <3

Don't know why some guys are saying Gaudreau, Monahan and Jankowski.
They all had career years under Peter's last year and in the case of Gaudreau and Monahan, are given the most rope of any other players. Just from the eye test the past few weeks, for whatever reason they just haven't looked like their usual selves. Jankowski on the other hand has honestly just looked like crap this entire year, don't know how much of it has to do with Peters.
Back on topic though - not sure if it'll do anything at the point in his career, but if they just went out and gave Bennett 10games to play the way he wants to play, maybe he can turn things around a bit.
