Shameless plug, but our company is hosting a private screening on December 23rd and we're doing a giveaway both of Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/mysmartcap/...type=3&theater), and soon on Instagram.

Speaking of which what are your guys viewing habits going to be.

For the OT I was that nerd lined up the night before to get in for ESB and ROTJ.

For the PT I was there way ahead of time to get in because there was massive demand

For TFA I waited a couple of weeks so my dad and I could go together and enjoy it. Also for the demand to cool down a bit.

For TLJ I think it was a couple of weeks, I asked my dad to go but he wasn't really into it anymore, and a combination of age and focus issues meant that theatre viewings are out for him. He eventually watched it when I bought the DVD over

For TRS - I guess I'm still not really feeling the eagerness and anticipation that I used to for Star Wars in the theater, I'll go to see it at some point, but I'm not in a rush, and the Christmas release will make it crazy.

I remember for the PT I went opening night or within the first couple days, depending on work. Every movie since the Disney purchase me and a bunch of friends have been going to the Thursday screening... There were 9 of us for TLJ, and only 4 of us for ROS which is kinda depressing... I'm super stoked and would go alone if no one wanted to come with me, I love Star Wars (its like pizza and sex, even bad Star Wars is better than nothing).

Bought tickets way in advance for TFA and TLJ, but with how terrible Last Jedi was it completely soured me on the new trilogy. I'm waiting for reviews and fan reactions now for Rise of Skywalker, and if it's as bad as TLJ I'll just wait for streaming

My son has decided that seeing a movie, preferably a Star Wars movie, at the beginning of Christmas break is tradition now. So I'll probably see it during the first week; certainly won't try to go on opening night though.

I think that this commercial for TFA really hit me for some reason, because sometimes there are things that should be father and son or father and daughter so on and so on that are really awesome.

For me and my dad it was a thing, we didn't go to a lot of movies together, The OT, the PT, I remember going to Battlestar Galaxtica in the theatre with him, and those were precious moments, the drive, waiting in line with excitment, the snacks. I was saddened when he decided to end it, and I don't blame him, he's 87 and its tough for him to go to theatres.

I don't have a kid so its a tradition that's not going to continue sadly

They're clearly worried about this movie. That's two highly emotionally torqued commercials now which have very little to do with the actual movie.

My family and I go to the movies every Christmas day. We saw both TFA and TLJ together, and we've already got our tickets for Rise of Skywalker on the 25th. Looking forward to it.

As a warm up, I'm gonna have myself a marathon of Rogue One followed by the original trilogy, TFA, and TLJ. I haven't watched the prequels in years. They're just so damn awful, and I have absolutely no desire to revisit them...ever.

The video that Captain posted was released in 2015 for TFA. So far I've only seen one emotional/nostalgia clip for the new movie.

If I find time over the holidays I'll go watch, otherwise it'll be January.

Its amazing how TLJ sucked so bad it made TFA worse and has preemptively made TROS worse.

TLJ remains the only Star Wars movie I've only ever watched once, I haven't even watched TFA since. But I have tickets for opening night for Ep IX regardless, but mostly because it's the only date that worked for me and my buddies who have gone to see them. I have absolutely zero excitement for t right now, but I guess that means I'm ripe to be blown away, hopefully JJ pulled off something special.

It's really not that amazing. TLJ crapped all over the story from TFA and basically all the previous SW movies.

What is amazing is that TLJ made me appreciate the prequel trilogy more. Both the prequel trilogies and the TLJ suffered from horrendous execution, which included all sorts of bad and unnecessary humour, bad side villains, unnecessary delving into previous lore, redundant action pieces etc... the prequels at least presented a complete and relevant overall story arc.

That being said, I do have tickets for opening night. Rogue One and the Mandalorian prove to me that Disney can still pull off solid SW material. I'm somewhat hopeful for this.

I think because Star Wars has been there my whole life, my brain has become protective of it. While some haven't been as good as others, I can't say I've disliked any of them.

Yup me too. Saw A New Hope at age 5. Didn't get as excited about the middle 3, likely due to my age at the time and all of life's curve balls. These last three we all go as a family and the kids are as into as I am which is really cool. Been watching for over 40 years (yikes) so I have to see it through to the end now.

I don't see this film as a culmination of the Skywalker saga because for me the sequel trilogy hasn't justified its existence yet by delivering its own satisfying story. And to this point it hasn't really been focused on the Skywalkers at all. Which can change depending on what revelations are made in this film.

What this movie can do is end its own trilogy story on a good note and make the three worth watching because they add something to the overall arc. That's possible if TROS delivers some satisfying answers that tie in the two previous trilogies, making TFA and TLJ more watchable because we want to watch the journey to those answers and that conclusion. TLJ left off in a pretty aimless, meandering way that didn't leave you with much curiosity about where things would go from there. Hopefully a Palpatine plot breathes excitement into this film as well as the two preceding it. I'm really hoping it does.

I'm there opening night, and the excitement level is at a 10 regardless of where things sit going in. Its ####ing star wars, and it has a chance to be really good. That's worth getting excited about.

I will gladly welcome the space crawl on the big screen for my favorite childhood franchise in my life again. Even if I'm not sold yet on this trilogy.

I have been watching all of the Star Wars movies in timeline order starting with The Panthom Menace, got through the PT, Solo (which again is such a good movie), Rogue One (I go back and forth between ESB and this for my favourite Star Wars movie) and am half way through A New Hope.

I've got 20 some days to finish them off, lots of time. Been a great refresher on things and very enjoyable. My boy is only 2 and a half but I have them on when he is playing in the living room, and the part at the end of RoTS was awesome. They are putting the mask on Vader, he's watching then all of a sudden he goes "OHHHH THATS BARTH DADER!!!!" and puts his hand over his mouth to make the breathing sound.

Naturally I immediately punished him for mispronouncing the name and scorned him into tears.

Actually it was more like (spoiler for size):

Spoiler!

So? Is Rey a Skywalker?

They pretty much have to to have this make sense as the extension to the first 6 movies no? Like, they’ve taken a scenic route away from the Skywalker story and if they don’t bring it back it’ll be pretty confusing meaningless and empty, no?

Kylo Ren is a Skywalker. The title could refer to him.

The newest Skywalker is the kid on the casino planet. He was from a random fling when Luke really needed a break from isolation island, ended up in Star Wars Vegas, got trashed and woke up in a pool of thala-siren milk. It wasn't his proudest moment.

Seems to be what Rian Johnson was going for. Thankfully he's gone so I have a little more faith.
