Further to my previous point, Gulutzen was also a Babcock disciple in that he had a lot of contact and supposedly learned from him. But obviously there are pretty distinct differences between GG and Peters personalty-wise and even in some differences in the Xs and Os. Just like how Playfair's coaching was pretty different from Sutter despite being his AC for years.

Interesting from Rachel Doerrie. I wonder if a couple of these coaches will be outed, from journalists that will be somewhat protected from the backlash through the firing of Babcock. I assume they keep their mouths shut right now, due to worry about being blacklisted from the team.

I can't recall a prominent head coach seen this much bad press after getting fired since Keenan in the 90's. Babcock will work again in the NHL but some of these stories are pretty disappointing.

While these are only alleged incidences, it still really blows my mind that coaches and team personnel could act like this in the modern NHL. It's making me really re-think my beliefs on the impact a coach really has on a team.

Bob Hartley received a lot of bad press after being fired from the Flames

True. But Keenan in the 90s and Babcock right now seems to be on an entirely different level.
One wonders if all these Babcock comments would have happened without Commodore going off first.

All this stuff coming out now about how this isn’t an isolated incident is troubling. Really gets me thinking maybe there’s some smoke here in Calgary with the way the whole team is falling apart at the seams.

It's possible but it's really hard to say. I would like to think Peters isn't doing some of the stuff Babcock did to screw with players minds but it has to be said that the Babcock method of coaching is starting to look a little outdated as it's predicated around coaching the team to play a certain way regardless of the roster assembled instead of adapting to the players on the roster. It does sound like the Leafs players almost tanked to get Babcock fired. Is that happening with the Flames? I have no idea but it's hard for a team to play worse than they have over that losing streak.

From some of the pieces I've read the problem wasn't just Babcock's personality - it was his rigid adherence to his "system". A lot of the Leafs players felt handcuffed by it and weren't enjoying playing the game any more.
I'm wondering if the Flames have a similar issue - not necessarily with the coach's personality but with the system. Gaudreau for sure doesn't really look like he's engaged or having any fun out there. At the same time though, can the Flames really fire a 3rd coach in 4 years? I don't know.

At least Marner had the sense to list himself last.

Well, it's no longer an alleged incident anymore.
What a piece of garbage. And I thought Commodore was taking it too far. I was wrong.

Holy hell that is some insidious ####. I wouldn't want this guy anywhere near a roster of any kind.

Focusing on role models my ass. Just ask Marner who his role models are on the team for work ethic. If he's wrong point out the right ones.

Honest question... What % of NHL hockey coaches are @#$! like this?
Is it half? more? less??
At this point, I would imagine at least half, if not more, are doing idiotic things like this, where Babcock isn't any kind of enigma, but more the norm of the traditional, old school, hard ass hockey coach. I also would imagine that they will go the way of the dinosoar. No way such tactics will be survive in a younger league, where the superstars, and highest paid athletes, are your youth, not your grizzled vet.
I'm even shocked to see Marner comment on the matter (all over my twitter feed at the moment). I feel like such incidents wouldn't be talked about to the media/public, and it would all be kept behind closed doors. Not anymore!
