I’m quite obviously stating my interpretation of what Don Cherry said. I’d say Remembrance Day is a pretty Canadian tradition. Wouldn’t you?
The whole point is that he felt it important to single out immigrants. That is what he did and what you are doing in your interpretation. How does your interpretation sound any different?
Hey I don’t hate black people. Just black people that commit crimes. Do you not see the problem in that statement?

Nope. Remembrance Day is observed in eleven countries around the world, and another thirteen observe similar statutory holidays on 11 November. There is nothing particularly Canadian about Remembrance Day.
Other than it is celebrated in Canada every year, to honour the Canadians that died for our country. You’re right, that’s not Canadian.

Pretty much exactly this, and if we are talking about Flanders Field Don should have paid a little more respect to our Sikh friends from Punjab province, they of course having been there before the Canadians arrived and in far greater numbers.
This is exactly how the liberals took power this election. Twist what I said why don’t you. I never said immigrants were leeches. Try reading it again.
But he was talking about the immigrants that come here and leach off of society, then don’t accept our traditions.
two small points, first Cherry never mentioned leeching at all, you brought that up, and you never even had the good grace to use the usual fig leaf most racists use, the corollary 'some' immigrants, you just stated 'the immigrants that come here and leech off society'.
I don't really need to twist that, it's straight up racist, if you aren't a racists, and I choose to think you aren't, I suggest you just apologise for saying something racist by mistake.
Never really cared for Don and it's probably time anyway. But the reason is absolute BS. This is one of those things where if you get offended by the truth that's your problem. I'm guessing this is mostly an excuse so they can finally let him go.
Americans don't wear poppies. So if they immigrated to Canada they probably wouldn't wear one either unless they felt like it. Like all other immigrants.

"the truth"?
Hahah buddy why don't you get out of your house some more and stop living under a rock like Cherry.
Immigrants are just as thankful for the military and those that fought for us as the rest of "old stock" Canadians.

The immigrants that come here and leech, means the ones that don’t work when they get here genius.
How do you interpret getting milk and honey for nothing?

If you are an immigrant, as I am, you work, no one gets to come to Canada and leech, you aren't entitled to a thing as an immigrant here, no welfare, no housing nothing, this immigrant has been here for 40 odd years working his arse off, like every immigrant I have ever met.
If you are a refugee you are not allowed to work, although every last one of the refugees I have known was just aching for the day they were allowed to work so they could give back to the country that gave them refuge.
I was wrong, you appear to be a racist

Except there is really no truth in what he said, he just believes there to be truth in what he said. That is the problem.

Yes. I am offended by the scapegoating of immigrants to make a salient point about the paucity of visible support in Canada for the military. I am also offended by the implication that entry to Canada somehow makes it incumbent upon immigrants to participate in what is being billed as a specifically Canadian cultural practice. I am perhaps most offended that so many people continue to miss precisely what the problem is with what Don Cherry said on Saturday night.

Everyone defending Cherry seems to take that as a given fact, and it's probably not even statistically true.
