Well, yes, that would be the optimal response. Just not ready to expect that yet. They can go ahead and prove me wrong though.

IMO Talbot should've played last game or tonight.
But there a lot of mind games and perceptions that both coaches, even old school Peters, and goalies hold onto. Putting Rittich in after the overall team bad game vs Phx may send the wrong message, so he plays Thursday.
Tonight, he's on After Hours and my guess is he campaigned hard to play tonight in part because of that and a national game, thus the rest day yesterday, when really it should be Talbot.
My guess is Rittich Wed and next Sat afternoon, Talbot next Sunday vs Vegas. But that's too long IMO for Talbot to sit on the bench (2 or so weeks).

FWIW, the Flames' general strategy under Bill Peters has been to map out starts ahead of time but rely on Rittich telling them how he's doing. The fact that he's played great and seems to be feeling good is likely the primary factor in riding him early.

I dont know. Guys who get concussions also say they're good to go when they're not. I'd sincerely hope they have a better grip on things than just letting them gave Rittich tell them if hes good to go or not.
If he falls off a cliff after the all star break, they better pray Talbot can carry the mail the rest of the way.
Give Rittich all the leash he wants, but also be very weary because he will burn out.

They are playing the Stanley Cup champs and Peters wants to ice the lineup that gives them the best chance of winning and extending their short winning streak. Some rest periods coming up in the schedule.
Honestly, I would be shocked if Dave has been verbally lobbying for starts to Peters , except for his fine goaltending. After Hours or National game almost certainly weren’t part of the coaching staffs decision making process.

We have one extra ticket for tonight’s game. Only condition is a Flames fan and having to sit by three guys who may be getting after it.
Edit. Gone. Go Flames!

The frog and I will be watching. Been staying away from GT because we have been winning when I don't post in them.

Fair enough, just my opinion. I do think he should've been slotted for tonight, it's just Thursday that he should've gotten his rest and not have to take a rest day yesterday.
As mentioned, I think it made a lot more sense to put Talbot in for a lesser team such as the Devils. He was thrown to the wolves as far as the Capitals two games in a row, and played just fine, as he did in the win vs An before that. It would've then had Rittich get one game in 7 days (tonight) while keeping Talbot sharp as he won't have played for 9 or 10 days either after had played Thursday.

Taking a bit of a break right now, just spending a bit of much-needed time with family. It's been great down there, though.
