Have they mentioned anything about costs? Some of this stuff looks really expensive. I assume this is all city money?

It is still doable through Quarry Park. Mind you it may be a challenge now as you would be making a quiet road busy, and people who live nearby wouldn't like it.

Yikes. On the Glenmore proposal, it looks like they are thinking of removing the access to Glenmore by Burnco and the driving range (to facilitate NB Deerfoot onto Westbound Glenmore) and also access to EB Glenmore from the otherside by the A&W, the new Lordco Autoparts by all those car dealerships.

As a Riverbend resident, this is my primary access to/from Deerfoot Meadows.

Not good.

In that image, it looks like Maple Ridge golf course gets screwed over.

"Possible property impacts".

Uh ya, you mean the 2 roads cutting through the whole thing?

i suppose the easiest way would be to drop a road in that greenspace corridor in douglas glen, but i'd imagine that would not be palatable to the residents along that stretch as that is going to make a pretty busy roadway in their backyard. not to mention you are going to tie up bike pathways during construction

The Deerfoot is a provincial highway. I believe it would all be financed by the province.

Didn't they hand it over to the city when the ring road was done, and they "promised" to just contribute some $ to the upgrades? or has that not happened yet?

Hasn't happened yet. Basically nobody wants it because it's a massive money pit, the traffic guys especially don't want to deal with it. The line painting and closures deerfoot would need them to do would take up a LOT of their resources

City is going to really ram these upgrades at the province before they take over deerfoot maintance again. Going to be some interesting negotions after Stoney and the green line.

This must be a 120 year plan, I give it 20 years / phase. Quote me in 2040 when we have a barrier separated HOV center lane added to Deerfoot.

With the ring road now this actually makes some sense. Just don’t sell the future tolls off to a private company...

Is that supposed to actually improve things if our driver's ed system tells you it's ok to be a 98kph left lane warrior in your beige corolla?

Remember to slam hard on your brakes when your exit is 4km away and you need 6 car lengths to be able to make a lane change.

I've always wondered about a toll freeway(s) running more/less over Barlow Trail(s) with entries/exits limited to only a few spots.

A bit sim-city fantasy, but I think there could have been an interesting way to do Green Line BRT/toll road combo for the SE leg.

Even more fantastical, but a toll road/rail ROW from downtown to the airport (with 1-2 entrance/exit).

Deerfoot kinda seems like a lost cause to me. A lot of money and construction pain to make it just suck a bit less. Let's think bigger and outside the box.
