You should really do a little research before saying this kind of stuff. Obama is a U.S. citizen, born and raised in Hawai'i. He did attend a parochial school in Indonesia, and a college prep school in Hawai'i.

He's a member of the United Church and a lifelong Christian. You know, sometimes it's unwise to just parrot Sean Hannity without doing a little fact-checking.
Here is the link to the story I read:

http://www.insightmag.com/Media/Medi...er/Obama_2.htm

You will note that the Hilliary camp is reportedly already considering using his background against him. Perhaps spinning it in to more than it is.

As for Sean Hannity: I know of him but, I'm not sure i've ever seen
his show.

It has begun. Here's a clip from FOX News. I have no doubts that this will affect Obama's chances.

http://thinkprogress.org/2007/01/19/fox-obama-madrassa/

BTW, note the tone and how they throw around the word "muslim", clearly trying to drum it up as something dangerous and something to fear. And I love at the end where the lady squeezes in "please note we're not talking about all muslims, just the ones who want to blow us up"...FOX News makes me ill.

Wow is that horrible. I've been offended by a lot of FOXNEWS clips in the past but that one takes the cake. This should be seen as a virtue if anything. We could use some culture and understanding of others in our President.

A smear campaign is a smear campaign, whether it's being done by Hillary Clinton or FoxNews. In this case, it seems like it's both. Obama has never hid the fact that he went to school in Indonesia (a predominantly muslim nation) as a very small child. Using that against him is a sign of desperation, in my opinion--which doesn't mean it won't work--it just shows the despicable depths to which politicians will sink. Obama is a natural-born American and a lifelong member of the United Church. When you're going back to someone's grade school education (which was at a parochial school, not a "madrassa" as FoxNews has implied) you're really grasping at straws. I hope Hillary doesn't try to exploit this nonsense--but if she does, she'll have really lost her way, in my opinion.

All you have to do is google Obama to figure out the distortions and lies that are behind this controversy in the first place.

I guess it shows Hillary isn't above dirty politics and won''t be anybodies, Republicans included, patsy. Still, getting in bed with fox news isn't impressive in my books.

Yes and I said that he was going to be smeared. Also, isn't Fox owned by
Murdock and isn't he a Clinton supporter?

Insight Mag is a Moonie publication, owned by the Unification Church, who have a history of pushing a right-wing agenda through their news. Perhaps they are trying to kill two birds with one stone by saying the Clinton camp is behind the Obama smear campaign? I'm not sure what to believe right now, but I guess in this day and age you always have to consider the source.

I don't think that's the road that they will take. They have to be very careful with their tact this time around.

Agreed one does. The story also implies that Obama was deceptive about
his background and had in fact spent four years in a Madrassa school. This would be a school devoted to Muslim teaching rather than a school that just had the Quaran as part of it's curriculum.

There were no sources, which is the point Howard Kurtz was making in his media matters show on CNN Sunday morning and in his media column at the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...012200260.html

Pretty clumsy and comical attempt at a smear job.

It would be nice to have someone in power with some understanding of Islam, other than muslims being "evil doers".

We should applaud education, not condemn it.

Don't even try to paint the Bush administration with that brush.

They may have handled all of this wrong but they have never even started down that road.

I think the Muslim religion is responsible for there own bad image. There
are people killing civilians and calling for the genocide of the Jews and the overthrow of America all in the name of Allah. The perception is that little
is being done within the Muslim community to renounce these actions or
stop them.

Still taking the same road but now blaming it on Hillary.

I must be slipping, I even bought into it.

So, which Republican candidate is responsible?

Do you really think they are trotting out strategy this early?

Ha ha. No kiddin'.

Unfortunately though there is a certain helpless segment of the population that will still believe this nonsense when it's time to vote.

The party loyalty demonstrated by Fox News is refreshing though.

I guess the far right doesn't need a candidate yet.

Same old strategy, they don't even have to think about it.

Well, I get you rpoint but they DO need a candidate. Just look at the poll numbers for approval in almost every sector of government for proof.

Are you kidding? While it may not be the doing of one particular candidate, there are many groups/organizations who have an interest in ensuring the Republicans take power and the Dems fail. They would love to paint a picture of the Obama smear being masterminded by the Clinton campaign.

As for whether anyone is trotting out strategy this early..hell yes, of course they would be. You would have to in politics at this level.

I don't think Hilary will win cuz the American public isn't ready for a female leader yet. That's just my opinion. I just got US Citizenship (I now have dual with Canadian) and this will be my first federal election where I can vote, so I'm very intrigued!
