Radio or tv, the only guy that I actually slow down a fast forward to listen to is Brian Burke.

Corus owns QR, so that isn't going to happen.
They do own "Funny 1060" tho, so it wouldn't be the most shocking thing for Bell to get the Flames rights, then turn 1060 into a TSN station. Funny is currently the lowest rated station in the market.

The station makes no sense, there should at least have some format that makes sense.

An hour of former SNL cast members

An hour of comedians telling cat jokes.

Sorry for the OT.

If only they were 3-5 minute bits. You get 45 seconds of an actual good comedian before they go back to back to back with Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall. Barf.

I have found myself listening to every podcast from last week due to Krahn. He’s my wheelhouse and how I like my radio. Naturally funny, lots of hockey anecdotes, laughs just like John Candy, he’s brilliant.
Knowing 960 is on a shoestring budget means they won’t be able to get him full time. But if they put him on, I’ll be listening.

Also - no podcast up Fri or Mon? What’s up with that?

Yeah but the station probably costs $10/month to run.

I've not minded the Scott Rintol show from 10-12 in the old Rome spot. Focusing on Vancouver and Calgary sports definitely provides a broader base of subject matter. It's the first I've heard from Rintol and so far I don't mind him at all.

It is quite funny to listen to from time to time, but generally not kid friendly if you have young ones in your vehicle.

I don 't mind 1060. Yes, you have to put up with some crap to hear good bits. But that's no different than any music station and Fan 960 as well. What I like about it is that I can hear comedians I haven't heard of, make note and then find them on Netflix or something.

Yeah you have to figure that BCE keeping 1060 around (CFCN 1060 in the 70s and 80s and probably long before that, then the iconic AM 106) is in part due to nostalgia but also to keep it as a placeholder for something down the road.... AM radio doesn't have a lot of formats, so news or more likely a TSN is the end goal. And a news station would've happened by now.
But they need the Flames to get it. Having a bumbling Jermaine Franklin as your reporter for over a decade goes to show the time and effort they're currently invested in Calgary, knowing the Sportsnet hold.

I was curious, do they focus on hockey for the most part? Is the NBA or NFL discussed on the show?

I have zero interest in CFL/CIS/WHL/ discussion or any other local sports for that matter(especially amateur). I figured they may try to talk more local sports besides the Flames/Nucks so I havent attempted to listen to it so far.

Being that it's a sports talk radio show in Canada, yes hockey is the focus. Rest of the league included in that. Rintol has had a few MLBers on as well and talking about the NFL a bit.

Theres been some CPL talk with the season coming to an end. Not much CFL so far but I expect there to be some with the playoffs coming up.

I enjoy that theres not really any Edmonton talk (yes I understand why).

I could do without the fawning over the Canucks and Petterson daily talk. Yesterday it was "Canucks are the best Canadian team right now" and "how many Canadian teams make the playoffs". That's nice and all but where's the context of where we are in the season?
