At first it seemed extreme to me. But then upon watching the video explanation, it sounds like this is his 3rd time being penalized for similar infractions, so it seems reasonable to me

I did t realize “roughing” was a suspendible offence. This type of decision implies Sherwood did nothing wrong. Open season on goaltenders?

If he hadn’t blatantly done this already this season to Zadorov, he doesn’t get suspended in my opinion. He’s too big to go clocking guys in the face like that. 2 games was unexpected though.

I’ve watched the replay. The dirty hitting (on Kylington) CBJ embellished that jab with a head snap. CBJ was running around and recklessly boarded, then speared CGY players. Although the refs called it a slash on Rittich he speared him (IMO). Lucic had to do something and IMO the CBJ sold it big time.

Also makes the Lucic acquisition even worse (hard to believe that was possible) than it was the day it was made.

The guy is now completely useless for the team moving forward but a great big chunk of salary cap. As I said at the time....franchise crippling as far as salary cap implications go.

This may end up being the worst single trade in Flames history when the implications of the money ties up in him, his "ability" to play the game, and what it does during the clubs window to compete are all added together.

Bit of a reputation suspension but no biggie. As long as Lucic doesn’t mind losing a couple grand every time there’s literally no downside to doing something like this when the other team’s guy is causing a ruckus.

I would imagine the incident in Carolina was brought up in the meeting as well and hopefully a memo sent out to the officials to call a few more of the egregious wacks and spears on goalies.

No it doesn't. It's pretty explicit in the rules that you can't sucker punch someone.

I'm glad we have a player that can stand up for teammates so we can play bigger, but no one should pretend that that wasn't super dirty and suspendible.

And yes, refs need to do a better job calling the first penalty.

Second time this season that Lucic responded to a non call on the ice. I like his decision making when it comes to this physicality. I think the suspension was heavy handed.

I really hope the refs receive discipline behind the scenes because they are terrible if not outright incompetent most of the time.

I agree with the suspension, but also agree that this is the end result of players feeling like they need to take justice into their own hands.
