Quine-Monahan-Bennett
On paper, that is a pretty terrible second line.

Flames have 7 games to get to the 20-game ("now we can actually judge what this team is"-mark).
@Carolina
@ Nashville
@ Colombus
@ Washington (b2b)
vs Arizona
vs New Jersey
Leads me to believe that there is going to be a lot of cause for concern at the 20 game make for this team. At best, I think the team continues this pattern of win one, lose one during this stretch of games, given that the flames have only won 2 consecutive games once so far this season.
That second line looks terrible, but will give Peters the benefit of doubt here, as I can't really tell if there's that big a difference between Quine and Mangiapane.

Just because you said that, they'll score a couple of goals as a unit tonight.

I will donate $10 to CP if Bennett, Lucic, and Quine score 0 points tonight.

Just fn win. I don't care what the line combos are, just figure it out already.

Carolina is 7-3-1 to start the year, and it's not smoke and mirrors. They are 3rd in the league in key advanced metrics like Corsi%, Fenwick%, XGF%, and High danger chances for %.
That being said, the Flames haven't been too bad in those categories either, but their PDO has sunk their record somewhat, along with giving up a lot of high danger chances against.
The Hurricanes are for real. I hope the Flames are ready for puck drop. It would be really nice to see Gaudreau have a dominant presence in a game for once.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Feel like we're tempting fate with Lucic playing with Backlund.
Lucic has surprisingly good defensive stats. I get that. He'll also be playing more minutes.

I'm probably the biggest Bennett fan around, and that line is ugly. Bennett could potentially be that 3rd wheel on a line with a strong duo...but I can't see that line actually generating anything of worth.
I actually don't like how these lines have been formed. I'm all for splitting up Johnny and Sean, but to totally bone Sean on linemates does nothing but keep the 1st line top-heavy and expose our depth in lower lines. Why not:
Gaudreau - Lindholm - ?
Tkachuk - Monahan - ?
? - Backlund - Frolik
Lucic - Ryan - ?
Fill in the question marks however you see fit.

I actually think that with Quine's forecheck ability that that line will have the puck a lot of the time in the offensive zone. I bet they score 2 goals (both called back due to Bennett rule).

They were questioning Quine's fit on that line on the radio this morning. Boomer then said, because they're all saying they don't see a fit that Quine will score 3 goals tonight.

May be that they're trying to get Gaudreau going? And once he is, they could look at your suggested combos.

I think that Comixzone's line certainly make more sense, but they may be hedging their bets for a few games to make sure that Lindholm is comfortable in the new position. Overload the first line through the week, and then even things out.
The danger is that Peters will backslide into Johnny-Mony pairing again like an addict, if the second line struggles too much.

Why is the 2nd line terrible? We need Monahan to step up and carry the play and make Quine and Bennett better.
