No, because:
(A) Neither one is a “subservient” character
(B) That (WWF) storyline eventually had them fight each other.
Let’s make them more of a proper tag team. Like Strike Force.

Travis Hamonic is expendable and we should move him soon while he still holds some value.

The Flames have a mediocre GM who is on his 6th season with the team and has built a team with a terrible bottom six forwards, no depth in case of injuries up front and has outright lost most free agent signings and is painfully average in the trading department. That is my unpopular take on the Flames.

Jankowski is not the best player from the 2012 draft. If the draft were done again he would be behind 4th round pick Kulak.

This is largely consistent with what I believe. I wish I could have a candid conversation with Treliving about whether he believes this core is good enough to win a Stanley Cup with. His moves to date would indicate he believes this, as he has largely given up potential (draft picks) and cap space for supporting players.

I think he has all but admitted this roster is not good enough to compete for a cup.

Did he say this? Or are you referring to some of the failed trades? I would argue those moves were more about better supporting this core than actually revamping it.

Fans and media need to stop looking for the next "Pittsburgh game". A good team shouldn't need a lopsided loss to motivate them to play to their potential.

Unpopular Opinion
JG hasn't been great since before the All Star break last year, and I wonder if he'll ever be great again. I feel that his main concern is not getting hit, and that the other team won't get called for penalties against him. I think this has become the proverbial 'chip on his shoulder' and he is stuck in his own head. I am worried about him.

Ok here goes. Everybody raves about Tkachuk as the next captain.
As he is now, I don’t see Tkachuk as the next Flames captain. Some changes are needed. I love most of what he brings. He has skill, can score and has passion- he definitely drags the team into the fight. Something the flames need more of. All captain-like qualities.
But playing the agitator role, irritating guys and then backing off .... not so captain-like. I always think of a captain as respected by other teams in general- Giordano, Iginla, Doan, Chara etc. You don’t see the Marchands and the like as captains. They play a huge role for sure and are integral to the team.
I think Tkachuk would have to be more of a ‘stand-up’ player to be the captain. Which may be difficult if agitation is central to his ID as a player.

Does the Flames organization do anything above passable/average, though? Years ago I stopped worrying about them and just hoped for good on ice product.
I think it was AC that mentioned that they are horrible to work for, which had been corroborated by others. They cheap out at every corner, so don't expect anything special at the marketing level. Just hope that Brad can do something great over the course of his time here.

And he keeps getting bad goaltenders on the wrong side of 30 who are clearly past their prime. Instead of spending a bunch of third round picks on bad options, maybe it's better to spend a lump sum on a good option. With another expansion draft looming, a bunch of good backups will be available (again). Hopefully Rittich works out. But if he doesn't, Treliving will need to finally do something.
Since he has been GM, more than half the goalies in the league have moved. Andersson, Grubaur, Bishop, Varlamov, Lehner, MA Fleury, Khudobin, Halak, among others, have all been available.
Instead we got ... others.
Treliving's record on Free Agents is abysmal. When Frolik is the cream of the crop, there might be something wrong. This problem alone is enough to prevent the team from winning anything meaningful.
Luckily, drafting and developing has been solid. RFA extensions have been pretty good (although too short). But those were things that improved once Sutter stopped being the GM.

The sky is not falling and this team is pretty good. Not a popular opinion in October, I know.

I actually haven't liked his game as much this season. He's starting to turn over the puck a lot and make overly fancy plays rather than smart plays. As for captain material I agree somewhat in that I don't feel he's mature enough yet and I haven't seen enough hate to lose play from him. There have been captains that have been dirty (Scott Stevens) or whiny (Getzlaf) players so it's not preposterous to think he could one day be captain but IMO he's not close to being ready.
