Yeah, the team is asking for a shake up the way they're playing.
Bless that Elias Lindholm and his determination night in and night out amongst an uninspiring surrporting cast that only brings it in spurts.
Didn't think exiting to Colorado would make them so fragile.

Lindholm has been the best player all season, for sure.

Man, this team for being so defensively praised last season, is really making it hard for a budding goaltender. That's my take away from tonight, just play tight and give him some chances instead of opening him up like a can all the time.
Rittich played awesome. Lindholm, great game. Johnny, needs to tune into some skittle station or something. Frolik, go home. Wherever that may be.

Treliving knows he doesn’t have the right horses in that room, that’s why he tried to make the deals that were kiboshed. This group craters when the stakes get high.

Well Monahan came out of the box at 2:21, puck went out of play at 2:07.
In hindsight it should have been Monahan and Gaudreau with the offensive faceoff. But I have a feeling it was more about Giordano being tired.
Seems like Monahan/Gaudreau/Gio are the set OT trio they use. So with Gio needing the rest, they go with a completely different trio instead of Monahan/Gaudreau/Brodie.

My feelings also. I just don't see this team suddenly turning it around enough to be a contender. The playoffs against the Avs was the most telling sign to me, and they have looked the same since.

It was so cold dude..that wind was intense. It really picked up by the second period.
Actually looked like quite a few people had left by the early third period..almost looked like a sellout, by the third it definitely didn't look like that. Fun experience though..finally stopped snowing late third when the game finally opened up a bit

Way too much sitting back in the 3rd, far too undisciplined(though it seems like the refs remembered the Wideman incident again all of a sudden too) So many weak, soft calls(and not just on the Flames).... what a horribly frustrating start to the season.
|
And not a recall Quine shakeup. If they won't make a trade just recall Gawdin and Pospisil and give them a chance to send notice to everyone. Whilst angry I should vent about Giordano's dealings with the refs. I'm pretty sure at this age and who he is that he should get the veteran discount these days. Many veterans could get away with murder and yet it carries on for Giordano.

He demonstrates that despite frustration, you can still manage to be a consistently productive player through just a couple clutch shifts a game and step up when it matters for your team.
Hes the one player actually using his skillset out there to finish plays and not dicking around trying the same old stuff that doesn't work.
Such as trying half a dozen sharp angle waffles over moving into the goddamned slot.

Apparently from what I’m reading the game was lost when Peters was hired.
Yeesh, if you watched the game from the comfort of your couch in a heated room and you’re calling for the coach to be fired good grief.
If you sat outside in -11 in Regina, and have no fun that rhymes with Regina and now have to drive through Saskatchewan then I get the frustration and lashing out.

I think the problem is expectations that were unrealistic before the season began.
For example, there was a thread about where teams will land. I said Calgary will be in a dogfight to make the playoffs and I still believe that to be true. I don’t think Calgary’s roster really is that great to begin with. It’s slightly above average. Now people may not like to read that, because the Flames finishes first place last year, but my argument is that was last year and we saw what happened in the playoffs. Then I was responded to that the playoffs shouldn’t count when evaluating them, which was perhaps one of the most ridiculous responses I had ever read.
This team isn’t that great they are good, not great. They can get hot, like all teams and we all know they did last year. But that was an anomaly not the norm. Peters is a fantastic coach because I rarely see them actually being lazy, like was so often the case in the waning Iginla years. Or Gulutzan years. But mistakes will happen (Estrada) even if the team is the Blues in the Stanley Cup finals, every team makes mistakes and every team needs to minimize them. Calgary played pretty good tonight. But again they were playing against an extremely desperate team.
I’m not sure what the solution is but I’ve found that I’ve stopped caring as much about the team. In turn, it’s helped me enjoy them more when I watch. Sometimes you can be too passionate about stuff. People should keep this in mind. It’s only a game.

But from being in the top five last year to really struggling this year at 43.7%, face offs have been weird this year Lindholm is down quite a bit this year, Monahan is about 10% higher than his normal, Backlund after being a little above his average last year is down about 5%, and Bennett after doing quite well last year is down to, Jankowsiki I think is up a bit. Seems like there are games other than the last against Florida, where they are being dominated, kind of like how many one sided PP/Pk games there are as well
https://puckbase.com/stats/team-faceoff-splits?team=CGY
looking at this looks very telling on how lot of games have turned out.

And look how a revolving door of a lot of really good coaches has done for the Oilers.

Scott Oak bringing up the non-call, no infraction play in his post game player interview is absolute garbage. Bring it up all night and radio silence on the phantom call and soft ass tripping call...#### right off.
If you’re not having fun watching hockey, man, just don’t. If you’re honestly thinking it’s time to get rid of Peters and it’s not even Halloween, chill out. We all know for a fact how fickle winning is, being .500 in October is not indicative of anything.

Looked at the OT shift chart vs FLA.
Ryan had two shifts in OT, both with Eat Bread and Hanifin.

Yeah and I think it was Tkachuk and Lindholm.
Strange combination regardless. Might have been a case where Gio was too tired for the 23/13/5 trio, and Lindholm was still too tired for the 19/28/7 trio.
So they subbed Ryan in.

It's not because Giordano's too.tired, it's because they haven't scored n overtime.

He’s been the teams most consistent and best forward to this point
And by a fair margin
And yet others on the team don’t seem to learn from him
Commitment is hard
Lindholm is committed
Are the others?
