Let's debate this on a non-game day when its not 10 minutes following a brutal OT loss resulting from a brutal coaching decision.

NSFW!

This isn't too fun to watch lately. Flames playing without much jam, and I can't remember the last time there was a legitimate call made. A charging hit from behind is the same as skating within 10 feet of an opposing player when he trips over his own skate laces? Hughson insisting over and over it was a high stick when it was unanimously called NOT a high stick. Then filling the booth with "ectoplasm" whenever the Jets get a weak shot on net. I dunno, just an irritating stretch of hockey overall.

Tell me, who takes the face off on that play if you were coach?

You stick with "your" guy in 3 on 3 OT. Ryan just identified that Tkachuk is with Little, he knows Brodie is behind him and Connor is TJ's man, and he knows the Jets D is behind their own net and that is his man now.

Ideally, yes he realizes what's happening behind him and goes after Connor, but given the information he had that is Brodie's man in a 1 on 1 situation with him providing back pressure.

Just bad timing because if Tkachuk had peeled off Little a little earlier then Ryan knows he needs to take one of them.

Jets 2 Flames 1 (OT)

- Flames get caught trying to sit on a 1-0 lead
- David Rittich solid in the nets
- Derek Ryan messes up in overtime
- New lines have good moments
- Fun out door game!

You mean a brutal ot loss as a result of horrible execution by two players
Coaches can’t be blamed for everything

So knowing you have one player back means it's okay to let your guy go down the ice to make a 2 on 1? I know some people want to put that on Tkachuk and maybe he was a little lazy but that was just a really bad decision by Ryan. There's lazy and there's dumb and we saw both on that play.

As AC pointed out, it was pretty clear to Ryan that he didn’t think it was a 2 on 1 until it was too late, because at last glance, when he was leaving the zone, he saw Tkachuk within a stride of the guy on the far side.

To be clear I think both played it really poorly
That’s clear
There were two forwards and neither had a guy
Ryan’s mistake looks like a brain fart
I have no idea what Tkachuk was doing

However many it takes? Why stop when the results are sub-optimal?

If Peters isn't the guy, then he's not the guy. Why is this always such an offensive suggestion for you?

If these players get Peter's fired we need to start looking at our core

This is looking like a wild card team. Looks like they didn't like their place amongst the NHL elite.

Who would you have put on to take the face off with Tkachuk and Brodie out there?

Look at both. Then look at the guy who assembled the core AND hired the coaches.

Look at everything.
