Size may have been the wrong word. He just looked like a weak stringbean in his first couple pro seasons in North America. He's finally begun to fill out and add strength.

That's true but we were minutes away from crushing defeat where they blew a 2 goal 3rd period lead and PGT that would have had posters calling for heads to roll. The win is all that counts but this team has issues right now.

I've thought Monahan has looked good this year. Actually looks like he gives a ####. He's missed some shots that he would normally go in but that'll happen.
It's Gaudreau I am more worried about.

That is a dirty play. NHL needs a system where a video review of every game assesses fines for dangerous fouls like that. How about 5k per wrist slash or slewfoot? Would make players reform IMO.
Hmm what about prorated fine to salary. ie: a 5k fine for a league minimum would be 90k for McDavid. Then you can't run around with impunity if you make bank.

Who knows but outside of goalies, hamstring injuries are extremely rare in hockey.
If I was guessing ...knee injury.
