Alberta did the same with Jason Kenney. It's amazing the hypocritical nature of this province when they elected a guy under active investigation for actual illegal activity (which he is clearly guilty of) then turn around and cry about how others elected unethical leadership.

This has turned into a team based reality show and it's pathetic. The separatist sentiment we are now seeing is absolutely pathetic and embarrassing.

Another riding to note: Burnaby North-Seymour (where the Transmountain terminal is) went Lib > NDP > Con > Green (although the Lib was anti-TMX).

I’m not happy we let this clown off the hook but let’s pump the brakes a bit. I’m not sure separation is a great idea.
Freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose.

I, for one, look forward to the new Alberta Separatism thread, and its certain promise of reasoned, rational discussion.

The separatism mentality is flooding my Facebook feed right now. I’m sure a lot of it is reactionary BS but it’s still quite amazing how many seemingly rational people can lose their minds so quickly.

I foresee Trudeau being as brazen as ever. Acting as if he just got a huge majority again. Will his will full on and blame what may likely cause national unity turmoil on the conservatives or the provinces them selves.

As long as the pipeline gets built, we'll be fine. Singh may singlehandedly ruin this though. It's up to Trudeau to convince him. Or bribe him?

I've never been a big stoker of the separatist flames, but I do not see why Alberta or any other oil producing province should pay anything in equalization if other provinces are hijacking their economy.

I would cut back equalization payments based on how much each province is losing due to not being able to export their respective resources to the world market.

And how would Singh do that exactly? There's so much misinformation floating around to inflame things.

- there’s no vote on TMX. It’s done and passed. As far as the government goes, it’s a done deal.

- the only way the NDP would be able to kill this is by somehow getting a bill into law that calls for it to be killed. The Liberals and Conservatives would never support that, and they’d kill that bill (which has never been suggested) immediately.

The western separatist talk is already annoying. I get it, the rest of the country didn’t all vote for the Conservatives, but it’s pretty disjointed everywhere. The parliament is fractured regionally and that’s enhanced with FPTP, but that’s not new and not a reason to want to separate.

Trudeau does not need a single NDP vote to support the pipeline.

The Conservatives will gladly side with Liberals on this one issue. Although might be only issue they agree on!

NDP only holds the balance of power on issues divisive between Conservatives and Liberals such as balancing the budget and maintaining competitive tax environment for business.

I said it last night, I voted Conservative for the first time. I wanted a conservative government to protect the pipeline.

While not the best outcome I wanted to see, the only people who can kill the pipeline are the liberals.

Basically where we were 2 days a ago.

NDP and Green are a non factor.

I am taking glass half full look today.

But Singh could screw Trudeau by voting against the budget, which the Conservatives also would oppose. Trudeau has a fine line to walk. But then, so does Singh, who turned increasing polling support into fewer seats. He might just have to suck it up on TMX.

That said, a corrupt PM buttressed by an insane party. Close to worst case scenario.

No one wants an election right away. Cons will support the budget. Similar to how the libs supported multiple Harper minority budgets.

The moment Scheer opened his mouth on "widening the highways to fight climate change" is the moment I stopped taking him seriously.

Seriously, what a dimwit opinion.

Thst statement in itself should have given people major pause.

A flat broke NDP that made no headway last night probably isn't eager to irritate voters by giving us another election immediately.
