He went full Raiden.
The fact that it was on Kyle ‘drew’s babysitter’ Clifford was even better. No Clifford, Gio requests you stay out of this so Doughty can be accountable for what he started.

Minor consolation, but I make it four.

The first season in Calgary was magic, if only for the Flyers series.

Team was gassed early in the series against the North Stars.

Missed pretty well the entire game, but that Gio clip is really awesome.
Kind of hate the teams effort being consistently called out. Talent is one thing, but a lack of effort or emotion is harder and harder to swallow.

Could not watch game tonight.

Sounds like we were and are a very weak team.

As I said in the off season the flames are way to soft, it took other teams half of last season to work the flames out and we have been poor for a long time now. Play hard and be physical and the flames disappear, the team has no physicality at all. It very rarely hits and hates to be hit. They are going to be lucky to make the show this year and if I had a looney for all the years I have heard people on this site say “we have not yet played 20 games don’t worry” I would be rich.

The first line needs somebody physical on it to make up for butter soft centre and Johnny.

Second line needs a centre who is a threat to score and once again can throw a hit.

Amazed that our GM could not see this after the last half of last year.

The whole “we started slow last year, don’t panic” just doesn’t make sense here any longer. The Flames fell off the map shortly after the all star break, we had 5 players carry this team with career seasons.

We did nothing in the off-season to address the biggest concern which was no depth, no desire in the playoffs just soft play.

We need to rejig the first line, Johnny is invisible out there.
PP needs severe work, teams know exactly what we do and the dump and chase doesn’t work when our forwards are too scared to get in the corners.
I’d hate to see the score lines without Rittich, we’d have been blown out completely in 4 games now, there’s something wrong here and we need to fix it now.

Yep, started slow and ended slow last year. I don’t care about 1st overall in the West again. I don’t want last year again and other people around here shouldn’t either.

Soon as Monahan gets the body put on him he’s a floater and Johnny is just too small when the game gets physical. A big center who can hit would be more suiting for him to play with because he’s so dynamic with the puck he can make a lot of mediocre players look good.

It’s no surprise that we lose a lot to teams that play bigger and harder regardless of how they fair against everyone else or where they are in the standings.
Agreed! Buttery soft.

Still gonna give it some time but this team just doesn't have that killer instinct and it never will. The top two lines are just a bunch of floators.

The one thing that pisses me off is that Matthew wanted to get paid but hasn't shown much this season with his new contract.

I have learned over the years that the best thing a Flames fan can do is take up cheering for the Stampeders so the disappointing Flames Octobers can be offset by being rewarded by the play of best team in the CFL heading into the playoffs. As horrible as this effort was at least I could go to sleep happy that one of my Calgary teams took care of business.

Man, this thread is depressing. I'm still not too worried yet, as we're only 9 games in and this is just normal October Flames. They're 4-4-1. Yea, it's not great, but also not terrible by any means.

Last night was a pathetic effort, no question. I think we'll see a much different team in tonight's game.

Well, giving up a goal in the first 90 sec of a game, then giving up another in the first 20 sec of the next period is not a good way to win a game. Flames were inattentive, lazy and completely at a loss as to what to do when guys came flying at them. Good on LA for figuring out how to interrupt their plays. Maybe a coach or two will smarten the Flames up now and conjure some new tactics. (I'm not optimistic.)

Best thing last night: Doughty taking a penalty and Backs scoring to wreck the shutout.

Oh, and the end of the game was pretty good too. Kinda like stopping whacking one's head against a wall.

It's not like he hasn't tried. There are trades that he attempted that would've addressed exactly what you're advocating, but didn't pan out.

It's not that simple as you pick any guy you want, and you get him. Trades are a lot more complex than since you have to factor in what you have to give up, what cap space you got, is the other GM willing to trade the player, and make the trade proposed, and then also factor in if player even wants to be on your team if they have movement clauses in their contract.

If it was as simple as just getting any player at your whim, then why don't the Flames pick up both Crosby and McDavid?

What the team has in the room currently they have to work with.
