Well, I definitely want no part of Ray Shero on my team in any management capacity whatsoever.

It could turn into a bargain if he remains on an upward trajectory so I get the pay now to save later idea behind signings like this.

What? This has a high degree of probability to be one of the league's best contracts in a few years time.

Nathan Mackinnon was a borderline 50 point player when he signed a very similar deal

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Nolan Patrick, who was drafted after Hischier?

Hischier already has an 82 game season under his belt.

I think Hischier is going to be one of the league's premier 2-way centres during the course of this contract

This is a spectacular contract. They get all of his prime years.

This is a tremendous contract in my opinion, Hischier is a star in the making.

So was Ryan Nugent Hopkins, and that was never a great deal.

The '10 points per million' rule that tracked this summer's RFAs so closely says it is expensive. It will turn out well as long as he keeps progressing. But a lot of progression is priced in.

Similar to the Keller deal. A bit polarizing depending on how you view the upside vs. bust/regression possibilities.

Hischier is a much better all around player IMO

70 point center last year for 6M? It's a great deal now. Fortunately Edmonton has screwed up enough other contracts.

Last year was season 5 of the deal though. Before that he did not crack 50pts since year 1 of the contract.

69 points to be precise. And for most of the time he was more like 50 points. So now, in the 2nd last year of it, it's a fairly average deal for a 2C, and more than most guys like him for the majority of the time.

Not to mention they handed Eberle $6Mx6 at the same time.
