This alone is worth more to the flames this year than anything Neal did last year.

Team looked better, and damn should at home against a below average team. Heart attack incoming when Backlund went down, thank god he came back in. We cant afford a major injury to any of our top 5 forwards at this point

High expectations and big disappointments are hard to predict in today’s NHL.

I don’t know about 1 Jan, but on 15 Oct 2018 I had the Blues pencilled in the playoffs. I think most people did.

Backlund had to return. He couldn't ruin his daughter's first game.

No shifts in the final 10 minutes holding a lead but I thought he had an excellent, disciplined game.

Indirectly, I believe you have substantiated my point, as we were discussing the expectations of the upcoming games.

Sure, sure. But I don't see what any of this has to do with whether or not all of Washington, Carolina and Nashville should be expected to make the playoffs. I would think those are completely reasonable expectations.

To reiterate , in today’s NHL there are NO reasonable expectations.
All about game to game player/ team preparation and performance.

Hanifin was incredible out there tonight. You easily forget how poised and smart he is but seeing him live reminds you.

Kylington has quietly been great this season and was great again tonight.
Through 5 games he’s 56.0% Corsi player and 64.8% expected goals for.
Getting heavy offensive zone starts but still looking good in doing so.

I thought Kylington played his best NHL game tonight.
Giordano · Brodie
Hanifin · Hamonic
Kylington · Andersson
These are the three pairs I want to see all season long, please, and thank you.

Relative to NHL competition there certainly are. Columbus and Ottawa jump to mind right away. Yes any team can lose on any night but that's the nature of competition/ any sport.
