Default Knights 6 Flames 2

When the Vegas Golden Knights entered the League
I thought they were fun
and cute
Golden black. Black Knight
Monty Python
Now I think I hate them

This poem sucks.

Also, I really don’t like Peters choice to not pull Rittich after that 4th Vegas goal. At that point it was two softies and you could see he was rattled even the camera showed him looking to the bench. It’s not about punishing the goalie or embarrassing them. Sometimes you need that spark to the rest of the team hey wake the F up. Peters NEVER does that and you already knew at 4-2 that we were out of the fight and they just mailed in the rest of the game.

Sure enough look at the quality of the rest of the goals he let in. I think Peters is a strong coach but his stubbornness to never pull the goalie costs us games IMO. They’re worth just as much now as they are at the end of the season.

Can’t help but think about those trades that fell through. This team coulda used a shakeup. The top 6 would look so much better with Kadri and Zucker in it.

Win tomorrow and it’s a successful 2-1 road trip. I feel like people are extra edgy because the Oilers are 5-0. I can guarantee you they are not as good as their record dictates and we are not as bad as ours. We’ve played 6% of the season. Are these 5 games the true indicator of the team or the 82 from last year? We started last season 5-5-1 and finished with 107 points. Just learn from this game and move on.
Well that and... this team is coming off a disastrous playoff series...

Lame. I thought the play was fairly even other than goaltending. It looked like Rittich had rocks in his glove.

Vegas’ depth is really shown off when they have last change. In comparison the Flames bottom 6 is a black hole. Not sure what to do, can’t scratch them all.

I kind of disagree. I think that the slotting on this team is way off, to take advantage of the depth that they have.

As mentioned in the game thread, the line blender on constant high doesn't let any line mesh.

I like Peters, but this is his biggest weakness.

First line ok.
Tkachuk took day off big time. Backlund not much better.
Mangipane demoted after 1 period after being beaten around.
Bottom 6 played a lot, to little spark.
Defense fine.
Rittich let 2 inexcusable goals in, a smelly 3rd goal as well.

I think I need a whipping boy. Is Derek Ryan taken? What's his deal having 2 first names anyway?

Random thoughts:

- Lucic and Bennett work well together, but Jankowski's inability to play centre in the defensive zone kills that line.
- The 1st line didn't particularly impress me, although Johnny was Johnny again. Without him this team would never score
- We need a high end winger to play with Tkachuk and Backlund. For this team to hit that next level, I think that line needs to produce more during 5v5 play
- The powerplay is a joke. While they had some solid possession tonight, they did nothing with it - and that's the best it has looked all season
- Rittich had a rough night
- Giordano + Brodie is a better pairing than Giordano + Andersson, don't force it with Andersson, it'll come. Play Andersson with Kylington for now.
- Michael Stone should not be playing regularly. He's the 7.
- Derek Ryan is having a bad start to the season

-I think Talbot probably should have started tonight. Of course hindsight is 20/20. MA Fleury has been crushing the Flames, and it would have been nice if the coaches did something to mitigate that.
-Frolik and Jankowski have had it rough. However, lets not be impulsive. I wouldn't be surprised to see Frolik turn his play around at some point.
-Kylington seems to be generally better than Stone
-Stop putting Lucic in positions that are beyond what he's capable of handling. He's a 4th liner, nothing more. This is especially true when it negatively affects the production and development of some of the younger, faster, more skilled options.

Positives
-Lindholm is kind of like Backlund from a few years ago. We all agree he's good, and we all agree he's underrated. But I still feel like he deserves more credit.
-The Flames improved in the faceoff today. 61% is quite good.
-The Flames only had 3 penalties. The game is easier when you aren't shorthanded for a period.
-Most of the big-name players have been pretty good, more or less.

I don’t understand why people keep talking about these rumoured trades that fell through. It didn’t happen.

What does lamenting that actually accomplish? Who do you want to blame? There is nothing that can be done. It’s just so lame.

That was all sorts of ugly. Hopefully they can learn from this. Starting to think our depth isn’t what we thought it is. Bottom 6 has shown nothing.
