IMO, it is primarily because of two (related) things:
1) they are not completing their passes very well so far, and every missed pass slows down their transition game (which is the source of all tehir speed and much of their offense
2) since the latter part of last season, teams have been playing the Flames more aggressively, pinching and cutting off passes. This has resulted in making #1 above, more prevalent.
They need to adjust. And they will.
