How are bottle drives still a thing? It always amazes me when they ring the bell.

I generally don't like mint with chocolate, but I will demolish those After Eight dinner mints

Gum, toothpaste, dental floss, mints, chocolate. Heck, even other booze. Mint julep?

I'm not sure I understand what would make them not a thing anymore. They were a thing because they make money for various fundraisers and they still do that.

Nonsense! Didn't that incident result in an infection being cleared up?

I think I've made my point.

Maybe because of the blue bins. I know I don't save bottles anymore...just chuck them into the blue bin. There have to be a lot of people the same as me.

I went on a few bottle drives for my sons's band class. There are a lot of heavy drinkers around West Hillhurst who just hold on to the bottles, probably waiting for a bottle drive to come along for them.

Maybe but a lot of people keep their milk containers, cans, and bottles because it doesn't take much to get over $20 back and I usually take my kids with me to the depot and give them the money for helping.

Whenever I have parties I put all the bottles and cans in trash bags and leave them in the garage and wait for the 8am Saturday doorbell ring. A dance troupe hit the jackpot a few weeks back as I had just had a party and I had tons of hard alcohol bottles from previous parties that were near empty and this latest party polished them off.

Saves me a trip to the loathed bottled depot.

I guess, but even like a month is like $15, let them sit for a couple and it's a worthwhile trip, imo. I mean it's not a lot, but it's also not nothing and you've already paid it.

Meh, I like my house and garage being so tidy that I don't want garbage bags piling up. Even one bag I would find annoying. I figure it's the cost of running things the way I do, although I certainly don't blame people for wanting the money back. The crackheads sure seem to like digging through people's blue bins, so there must be a fair number of people tossing bottles.

Yeah, our alley's especially bad for that, I wish nobody put bottles in their bins here so we didn't routinely get recycling and garbage bins splayed open with crap all over the ground around them from careless bottle pickers.

I had been wondering what the huge building was on Hwy 22 just south of the Hwy and came across an interesting article, it even quoted some CP users:

https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/massive-m...gary-1.1842534

Quote:
Others on chatboards and social media have marveled at its size. A post on the Calgarypuck forum, “Flabbibulin” says it’s, “the biggest bloody house I have ever seen!,” while “OzyFlame” dubbed it, “overly hedonistic,” and “jaydorn” asks, “That's a house?! Drove by there last month and just thought it was a weird place for a hotel/condos. But a single family home?”

No, I have maybe 3 or 4 meth-crazed, weirdly ripped dudes who fight over my building's bottles.

Bottle drives were one of my favorites when my kids played hockey. They raise a decent amount of money for the team and are almost 100% on the kids in terms of effort. I think they are great for that reason alone, it is the kids putting in the majority of the effort. And they seem to have plenty of fun doing them too.

Gum is for invalids, you shouldnt be eating your toothpaste or dental floss, mints just mean you're trying to hide something and chocolate should taste like chocolate.

And unfortunately I'm not a Southern Colonel and thus dont have the chops to pull off a mint julep.
