I have my reasons, so, whether you agree or not, its not:
a. Overhyped - that always bugs me. Including by himself - which does it even more.
c. The ads - the fur company, the muffler company, etc. Terrible.
d. Gifted management and other positions in the Flames and Hockey Canada which he did not earn and which, of course, he performed badly.
e. Mostly, however, how his name got his mother off scott free in a terrible accident which killed someone.
Thanks for leaving me a spot.
B. Head coach of my biggest midget hockey rival and he was kind of a jerk. Can’t see him any other way.
Lanny having to share lifting the Cup with two knobs in their pajamas is one of the worst Cup hand-offs in NHL history (right after Yzerman bringing his daughter out ahead of his teammates)

Lol. You’ve showed your level of class compared to one of the classiest players to ever lace them up.
I’ve seen the video and it’s a lie. His daughter stood next to him. Nothing more.
He gave the cup to Scottie Bowman without even lifting it himself. His daughter never even touched the cup. Many other players also had their families on the ice for that presentation.
There’s no such thing as bringing out your teammates. They were all there. He just had his daughter stand next to him for his photo.

OK, not a lie that he brought his daughter out. But not to hand off the cup to or anything. Just to be with him. His first handoff was to Bowman. And why not?

One of the coolest cup moments ever too, Yzermans daughter is a non-story here.

FWIW, his management with the Flames was really a PR role. It sounded better than it was.
I feel he's average. Having an average GM is not a bad thing when you consider the damage a bad GM can do to an organization. Do a lot of fans feel he's a top GM?

Well, people have nicknamed him "The Wizard" on CP....

He gets rated highly because a large section of fans rate our success in comparison to our past and not the rest of the league. Good trades, bad FA signings, average drafting (but better than we used to be), a major strike at coach. He needs results where it matters to be a good GM and that hasn't happened yet.
