After two games these stats are meaningless, but fun to highlight anyway:
Johnny is on track for a 205 pt season and has a shooting % of 40%!

When he played 15 minutes the game before, the Flames lost. When he played less than 12 last night, the Flames won.
I don't think he's responsible for the loss in Colorado, I just think it's obvious that he is less effective playing more than 12 minutes a game, which is a necessity to play in the top 6.

Can you back that up with more than just a two game sample?

Lucic was great at using his physicality to create turnovers. I can remember one instance in the first period where he had Edler in his sights and Edler just threw the puck away before the hit. That throw away was picked off by Gio along the wall and he got a great look.
On other occasions Lucic was able to disrupt down low and CGY was able to control the puck. When CGY gets that you see them making the o-zone big (as coach Ward likes to describe) low to high and then d to d. Basically Lucic created opportunities with his actual physicality but also just the presence (opponents knowing he's coming and not wanting any part of him so making rushed bad plays).
Great to see and I hope he keeps it up as well as dropping the gloves when needed!

If you step into the face off circle with Monahan, you are going to lose three out of four times.

Monahan and Rittich are the two stories thus far that have an impact ... which is pretty unfair since Gaudreau has five points I suppose.
But if Rittich IS a number one goaltender (.915 Sv%), and if Monahan has added speed, a bit of bite and better defensive play (pushing him solidly into the number one center definition) then this isn't the same team as last year, and they are better and more suited for the playoffs.

I think the biggest thing people forget is Sean Monahan is only 24. He is just entering the age where people are getting to physical maturity aswell as reaching full mental maturity ( age 25/26). If Monahan is top center already and now just entering his prime athletic years watch out of he does consistently find that next level.

and seemingly a good human.
Not sure you can make him edgy, but whatever he either identifies as a deficiency or is told is a deficiency he's going to work on.

Bennett did start on a PP later in the game, but Lucic took a hooking penalty 15 seconds into it. I barely had time to say oh good Bennett is getting some PP time, before Lucic took the penalty.

It's most likely both. If you know your getting stronger you are going to be more confidence using that strength especially if you have the right support and environment propping you up. Also if he knows he's he is stronger now he is probably tired of being the one pushed around now it is his turn to push back.

If you go back Nov 23 of last year, regular season, it’s 51 games that Bennett played.
19 of those he played more than 14 mins and has 2g and 4a. So about 0.31ppg
The other 32 games he has played in that stretch, under 14 mins, and he has 7g 7a so 0.43ppg.

Have you considered that correlation =/= causation?
Maybe Bennett got more ice time in games where guys like Backlund and Tkachuk were already slumping, or in games where his PP unit failed to score a PP goal, extending his shift. Or maybe he got more ice time in games where puck management, not scoring, where instrumental in securing the W.
