In the game, I actually liked how subtle the patch was, and it did look cool.
Unfortunately, as mentioned, it totally clashed with the A and C and of course, the flags.

I would've used the opportunity to ditch the shoulder flags and pop the 40th Anniversary logo on one of the shoulders.
We need room for the Stanley Cup Finals patch........ right?

Made the logo fix you suggested. Added some black (perhaps four versions of the logo, each optimized for the four sweaters they will wear this year should've been the plan.
