Teams are not afraid to play the Flames. I suspect Calgary was the number one draw if teams had a choice entering last years WC playoffs.

And JG will go on to win a championship with a better constructed team.

That’s why it’s an unpopular opinion. I don’t think he’s going to be nearly as good as fans or management think he is. Turning down Mark Stone over this kid was a huge mistake.

Flames 5v5 play is great, but special teams are in need of a complete overhaul. I find the PP zone entry isn’t as bad as many say, but the exclusive reliance on old school screens, deflections, and rebounds is a waste of this team’s puck moving talent. Set up one timers on at least one side of the ice, preferably both sides. And if nobody is able to shoot in those situations, either practice the hell out of it, or trade for players that can.

On the PK, they allow zone entries with a red carpet rolled out. It is hell on the defenders and goalie and I can’t understand why they haven’t found a way to plug up the blue line.

J/k no way anybody would think that.

We've only had one game this year so who knows? maybe it'll be different. But last year, the Flames were one of the best teams in the league for standing up the PP entry at our blueline.

Thing is, in order to sign Stone to what he did in Vegas, keeping in mind the tax difference, Valimaki wouldn't be the only player we would have lost in order to be cap compliant.

Luckily in this case, time will tell. I think Valimaki's going to be great, and the idea that somehow a decision about Stone vs Valimaki was made incorrectly makes no sense at all to me (feel free to elaborate on how it would/could have been a this guy/that guy scenario).

Not for me. As a fan i'd like to know what the actual injury the player is suffering from. Don't BS me with this upper and lower crap.

Yes. He is agreeing with you.

This is all getting very confusing:

Poster #1: “My unpopular opinion.”
Poster #2: “That is actually a popular opinion.”
Poster #1: “You are wrong. I think most people agree with me.”
The Rest of CalgaryPuck: “????”

Not adding Mark Stone last year at the deadline was the difference between a Stanley cup and a first round exit.

Ol' Blasty is a great logo.

Was it in? Probably. But there is no conclusive proof that it was in.

Sorry, that's not an opinion, that's just wrong.

You only know for sure when the camera is overhead, and you can't see the puck from that view. From the angle, the puck could be in the air and over the goal line, showing that bit of white. Not conclusive, sadly.

The Saddledome is being replaced too soon. I don't think people realize how good the sight lines are at the dome. It was built at a time where the view was prioritized over making money. I would be crushed if I had season tickets in the first 4 rows of the first balcony right now. Knowing that you would never be able to get that low with balcony seating again would be like a death watch come the last season in the dome.

Anyone that thinks Edmonton's new rink is better has most likely never been there, cares more about the look of the concourse, or is an oiler fan.

Yes the dome could use more washrooms but I've never seen anyone pee their pants in 35 years of going to games there (yet I feel like some people pee their's complaining about it).

To top it off ticket prices will jump substantially for pretty much everyone. Dome know what you've got till it's gone...
