They’re passing the puck horribly tonight.

Second line needs a serious upgrade if we want to play with the big boys, and unfortunately Valimaki's injury could have put an end to that goal for Treliving.

Upgrade is internal, with Lindholm and Bennett. Jus' sayin

Frolik can't play anymore minutes tonight. He's been a liability all game.

Confession - I’m on a ship in the Atlantic so I can’t see the plays. But with your help I’ve learned that Tkachuk is all over there ice (but rusty), Brodie is playing well (but slow), Frolik sucks (but is wide open for tap ins), Flames are pushing (but suck).
And the reffing is bad.

Well on the plus side this isn’t the worst season opener we have ever seen.

The Flames passing tonight has been ugly. Next game bench Czarnik, put Reider in. Move Bennett to 2nd line, Reider 3rd line, and Frolik can play the next game on the 4th.

There must have been at least 10 Flames passes back to the blue line that were bobbled and taken back outside of the o zone. So rusty. Most Game 1’s aren’t the smoothest but I don’t recall such a rusty season opener in a while!

Brodie was gassed, but this is true about the top speed. He however has the top three edgework for skating on the team. Incredible outside edge control.

It's very apparent these two teams are going to be the class of the conference. I think Colorado has an edge simply due to the MacKinnon factor, but I don't think there are many teams that could hang with the Avalanche the way we have tonight.
I say this fully aware that the Flames have gone with a very vanilla gameplan - this feels like a game the players have to win for themselves.
First hot take of the year: I protect Kylington over Andersson, and it's not close, nor any disrespect to Rasmus.

I was happy they were keeping the band together in the early preseason, but they gave too many guys the night off in the last three games.
