Fingers crossed for you.

I hate losing season openers, but with that effort you deserve some success.

With the few changes the flames made, I really hope they don't come out flat with that overdone "launch Johnny into the zone" move that doesn't work.

Don't have a good feeling about this one. This has classic disappointing Flames stinker written all over it. Would love to be proven wrong though.

I'm expecting a spanking from the Avs, but get that out of the way early and set the tone for the rest of the season.

4-1 Avs. Avs continue what they did to the Flames in the playoffs.

Early season hockey often seems a bit disjointed as teams try to rebuild some chemistry after the off-season. So, more than anything, I'd like to see a high intensity level and work ethic tonight. Given last season's playoff exit, I would expect to see a motivated group in the opener.

Season opener? Pretty much a guaranteed Flames loss, probably even a lopsided one. The Avs have a solid team which doesn't either. I'll say Avs take this one 7-2. Really hope I'm wrong but I don't have a good feeling about this one. Move along to Saturday and take it out on the Canucks.

Fun fact from that game. The GWG from Brandon Prust in that game was the last goal he scored as a Flame.

I don't throw this phrase around lightly, but this is as close to a must win game as you're going to find. Go Flames!

Sportselect Info
Flames Win = 2.5
Overtime = 3.6
Avs Win = 2.0
Over 6.5 = 1.8
Under 6.5 = 1.6

Hopefully the Flames come out motivated to avenge last season's playoff beat down, and are the more organized team early in the season given they had less off season personnel changes than Colorado. Given their history in season openers I have low expectations, but ideally we see Gio punk Kadri several times, a MacKinnon bench temper tantrum, and a lopsided Flames win. A more realistic prediction is that the Flames manage to eke out an OT win 4-3. GFG!

The Flames handed Colorado their first home-ice loss last season. Here's hoping they do it again.

It certainly would be nice to win a season opener to get a little bit of a head start over every other season after 2009.

The Avs have shown remarkable aptitude at making us their bitch.

Lots of doom and gloom in this thread, and rightfully so considering the opponent and our record in season openers. However, I believe the Avs will be overconfident tonight and will take the Flames too lightly. Flames win this one 4-2.
