It seems to me that the Coyotes are paying a lot of money for the quality of goaltending they get and how often those goalies are healthy

At least Mike Smith isn't still their highest-paid goalie.

I have to agree
Kuemper had a good season but I don't see why the Coyotes had to rush and sign him now
Chayka should have all the leverage. That's big money to pay your current #2, and a guy who's been a career back-up outside of last season where the Coyotes had no choice but to start him 50+ times

I think this makes it pretty likely that they will trade Raanta

I wonder if Raanta's injury woes are concerning to Arizona and are just gonna stick with Kuemper as the starter now.

In a void paying $8.75M for goal tending for the following two seasons isn't awful, and both appear to be pretty solid options to run with for stretches (Rantaa when healthy, Kuemper last year), but at the same time I also wonder why the Yotes would rush out to sign him for half a good season as a starter. He's making more than Binnington's getting, who had an MVP level half season and great playoffs on the way to a cup.

Because one was a UFA to be and the other was not?

That would account for some of the discrepancy in value true. Binnington's deal buys 1 UFA year, versus 2 for Kuemper's. I suppose it's fair that they are in the same ballpark even, but I was surprised by it being more money considering the run that Binnington just had.

Well he did play like a 4.5mil+ goalie last year, they must have more faith than I do that he can continue too.

55 games, 27 wins, 2.33 GAA, and .925 save percentage. To me, those numbers say $4.5M.
55 games, 25 wins, 2.93 GAA, and a .906 save percentage, on the other hand...

I’m not sure who will be willing to take on Raanta till he shows an injury free season or so. I guess the coyotes are going with three goalies this year.

His numbers last year were better than I realized. He has actually been pretty good much of his career.

This shows no confidence in Raanta being healthy. I suppose they have little faith in Hill seeing as how they claimed Comrie from the Jets.
