Do you need to ask is the Wii is in stock? Or are they displaying the boxes when they arrive?
And I think PS3s are still a rare item around here but I don't doubt there is starting to be a surplus in some places.

Depends on the place. Best Buy and Future Shop will release them as they get them, usually in a locked cart. Others will put them away unless someone asks (EB and Wal Mart)

Haha, thanks for the thought. Would you take futureshop gift cards as payment? That's why I'm hounding futureshop. I've got a tonne of gift cards.
Thanks BA.. I appreciate the help
For crying out loud.. I can't use gift cards online. *******s!

There was a bunch at the West Hills Superstore earlier today, though not sure if there's any there still.

Actually, yeah I would. I buy quite a bit from FS, despite their poor rep. I'll keep my eye out for one.
When you eventually do get one, you're going to love it.....

As for not taking FS GC online.. you can buy it using a creditcard, go into any futureshop, and ask to change the payment method when you have received the shipment.. i have done this a few times..

Actuially best buy will hold theirs every week and release them friday morning. If you go to one of them after hours on a thursday there will be a sign saying how many Wiis and PS3s they will have to give out. There is usually a lineup around 3 am for the Wiis, and they come out about a half hour before opening and hand out the appropriate amount of vouchers as they have systems.

Actually, they don't. Twice I have gone to the store looking for remotes, and they have a lineup inside the store with the Wii consoles in a caged cart, selling them right away. This is how I got mine. There is no point in holding them anymore since they can sell them right away. You go ahead and line up, they won't have any. They used to do the sign thing on friday mornings, but have now stopped.
edit: Got mine on a monday between 12-1pm... and seen another shipment being sold on a wednesday between 6-7pm.

Wii shipments happened in Calgary today.
I haven't been looking, but today I figured what the heck, and asked while I was in Superstore (Westwinds location) and they had a shipment just in. So I got one, but no controllers were in their shipment.
Since I had a few errand to run I asked about controllers in a few other places. FS said the had some that day but they were sold out.
Walmart by Deerfoot Mall also had some Wii (I saw 3 sold in the 5 minutes I was there), but no controllers. Zelda is available.

Seems that Remotes are even tougher to find the Wii. If every Wii Owner wants/needs at least two Remotes and two nunchuks....it could be a while before we see those in abundance
Ebay isnt cheap at all...but if your desperate you can probably get a set for about $100 US including Shipping. Ive been scouting for about 2 weeks now

Someone posted on redflagdeals that they talked to sales reps and apparently shipments are going to be coming in every week, expecting maybe 150 in the city per week.
Now if the hawkers would just stop buying all the ones I want to buy for shelf price then everyone else can start playing. Jerks.

If you are THAT desperate, there are Remotes at a video game store in West Ed. I dont know what it is called, but it is right beside the skating rink.
Everything, for every platform including PC, seemed to have a ridiculous mark up there. The Remotes were tagged at $109.

My wife picked up a Wii and a nunchuk at Zellers in Market Mall today. She was there around 5PM and they had about three. I figured I wouldn't get the Wii for at least a month. Now I have to wait for the Wii Play preorder in order to get the second Wiimote.

In related news I picked up Warioware: Smooth Moves today and it simply a blast to play. Tons of (bizarre) fun, as anybody who has played any of the other Warioware games knows. This makes great use of the Wiimote.

I second that. After getting through the first few simple levels and learning all the wiimote positions, it's so fun. Inviting some friends over tomorrow to play =) Definitely a must pick up if you have a wii.

It's hit and miss.
I wasn't looking for one but I walked into Superstore and they had just received a shipment. After reading numerous people on numerous forums rave about them I decided to pick one up. And I saw Walmart had them that day as well.
Just keep an eye out and you will find one eventually.
