Feel a bit badly for how things have turned out for Ol' Sven. Seemed to have so much promise and potential (once upon a time).

I remember when Canuck fans told me they fleeced us on the Sven trade. The asset we received is a 22 year old budding top 4 Dman and Baertschi is a 26 year old hitting the waiver wire.

Sven being on waivers is positively puzzling.

Why should you feel badly? He forced his way out of the organization by refusing to sign, and now a few years later he’s on waivers. Following in the footsteps of good old Tom.

Not surprised to see Lazar get waived. He does not handle the puck like an NHLer.

I hope Sven can still figure something out. Always like the guy for some odd reason. Must be the name lol. I'd be surprised if he didnt get picked up by a rebuilding team.

They have to move out money. They are literally in cap Hell.

Casey DeSmith and his great contract are also on waivers

Pittsburgh waives Casey deSmith.

That is a goalie I can see getting picked up.

I also thought Petan was somewhat highly regarded? Maybe he could help?

Sven is also still in the category of "not quite good enough for the top 6, but not suited for the bottom 6" player. And has concussion history. So yeah, waiving him for cap relief makes sense. The Canucks are likely praying a team like Ottawa - who also suck and have nothing to lose - claims him so they can get out from under an extra million dollars of cap hit.

I’m surprised to see Agostino on there. He had 24 points in 63 games last year. 27 years old. Has a 2 year, 737 AAV contract. I don’t want the Flames to pick him up, but he’d be a good value pickup for a bottom feeder team.

Ya I think the decision was a little easier with the concussion history for sure.
