We already know Tre tried trading Brodie and Jankowski for Kadri. He also said in the press conference they are always trying to improve the team. Do you think no trades will be made for the duration of the season? You’re hilarious.

I had no idea he was drafted by Detroit, thought it was Winnipeg. What was he traded for?

So awesome to see him on the ice and the team is complete. Only thing that would make it more awesome is if Valamaki was healthy and ready to go. That's such a drag.

Winnipeg drafted him. The image is just photoshopped for a re-imagining of the 1990 draft.

And he had Frolik traded as well.
Heard Treliving say again this morning that the weren't good enough at the end of the season last year so no doubt we see moves between now and the deadline. He clearly feels more liberated to do something now with that contract done and they are technically under the cap for the start of the season.

Trade 2 expiring contracts for a proven 30 goal scorer with 3 years at a cap hit of $4.5M. Ya only a moron would do that deal

I still get upset thinking about what could have been. Having that center depth would have been massive for this team. It angers me that he's in Colorado after they turfed the Flames so easily last year.

It was a deal that fell through because Kadri invoked his NMC. So, the moron(s) who thought that was a good idea were the Flames front office, and lots of fans on this site.
It actually sounded like you thought no trades would be made this season because you were laughing at everyone for discussing trades. So what is it Leo: talking about trades is dumb because Tre said they’re keeping the group together. Or it’s not dumb because ‘duh, they aren’t going to be together forever!’ ?

My point is why don't we watch the team play some games before talking bout trades, if I recall last season there wasn't any major trades so it's not like no trades in a season has never happend

But I think the counter point to this is that TWICE in the past eight months Brad Treliving has pieced together major trades which fell through for various reasons. It seems pretty likely—given how aggressively he has attempted to recently upgrade the current roster—that this is something he will continue to do this year.

Maybe it’s my perception only, but it seems like there are fewer meaningful trades during the regular season, with the exception of the trade deadline.
Most trades happen in the off season, which makes sense as there usually is a lot more optionality
I would be surprised at any major changes
Also, I will remark that I was glad to hear Tkachuk confirm what a few of us were thinking. They arrived at the idea that it was going to be a shorter term to work within the Flames current cap constraints.
Lots of people in that discussion thread were insistent that Tkachuk gave as little crap about his line mate for 3 years, Frolik, as they did. That Tkachuk would pursue top dollar, and tough crap to Treliving for ‘mismanaging the cap’. Some very wrong opinions in there, for sure.
He wants to win with this team, sees unfinished business, and is a good team guy. Glad to see him back

Oh, I totally agree. I view the comments about ensuring that Tkachuk was signed without sacrificing a teammate as limited to necessity: neither party wanted to see a player move as a result of this contract. But I am certain that Treliving is as determined as ever to improve the roster, and Tkachuk will be happy to see the team improve.

Your point was that it was hilarious that people were discussing trade possibilities. There might not be trades this season, that is correct and goes without saying. There also might be trades this season, so hence why it is not ridiculous to talk about.
