I think it is time that alcohol is taken more seriously as a drug. I would say 100% of the bad choices I made in my youth were alcohol influenced. No one wants to call out the common culprit in stories like this. Young, cocky men + alcohol is often a horrible combination. If Matthews were high on coke when this happened, that would be a big part of this story. Alcohol is as bad as any drug out there when abused, but we all accept it as a societal norm.

Was she in a personal vehicle or a marked security vehicle?
Not that either one is smart, but I'd say there's a difference between, "let's go try to get into that random woman's car", and "I wonder what that security guard would do if we jumped into the back of the car?"
Given that it's Arizona, either one could get you shot.

This isn't news. People need to get a grip.
Edit. I don't condone aggressiveness or unwanted sexual advances. But this isn't anything that a good chunk of 22 year old males haven't done

Even when drunk, people still have some measure of control over their actions.
The issue isn't alcohol. It's what we deem appropriate conduct for men. It's time to hold young men accountable for their actions instead of the archaic, "boys will be boys," mindset. Like honestly, what does that even mean? That men, by nature of their chromosomes are allowed to gather in groups and harass a female at 2am?

Im no fan of Steve Simmons either, but I think in this instance his argument is pretty valid.
This episode, if nothing else, shows a real lack of maturity and maybe a bit of entitlement. Im not sure that's the type of guy you want leading a group of men who have a real shot at going a very long way in the playoffs this season as currently constructed.
Not that I really care cause i truly hope i get to watch the Bruins take them out in overtime of game 7 in round one.
The salt would be glorious.

Better education around the drug, Take it’s effects more seriously, discouraging binge drinking etc.

I already thought Matthews was an idiot for doing this, and I hadn't even thought of the crazy 'stand your ground' laws in US states like Arizona. She could have stepped out of her car, pumped a dozen bullets into his head (or his exposed ass) and she would just walk away from it without charges even being considered.

Do you think this would have happened if they were all sober? Had they been high on ketamine would you be placing some blame on the mental state that drug put them in?

The woman is a security guard! Not an 18 year old girl lost in the woods! Christ!

There’s a difference between who is being outnumbered in these scenarios. The incident as described would have scared the $@#! out of me.

The mooning/walking away with his pants down...meh whatever.
The group of guys approaching a female in her car at 2:00am is troubling and unacceptable.

Id say that goes for men and woman. I worked in the bar industry for most of my 20's.
Iv seen a lot of drunk behavior. By no means is it always the boys. I can recall watching a group or girls sexually harass the #### out of one of our bouncers hands everywhere. Then assault him, kicking scratching spitting.
But hey he probably liked it right? He is a big man and can take it...
